Comfortable bra for bigger boobs

…which doesn’t then make my boobs look like a shelf! I had 3 underwired bras (Panache, Freya etc) but they’re a bit tired, one has broken and one has developed a twisted strap that digs into my shoulder. I’m hoping someone has tried the cheaper, wire-free bras I see advertised on social media, Lemonade, Boody, and the like- or the even cheaper supermarket ones!

I need my boobs to be supported but also look shapely, because I have quite a solid torso and can look like a breezeblock. So something that lifts and shapes them rather than the sort of shelf effect you can get with some cropped top type sports bras. I’m a 34F in most styles of ‘proper’ bra. Can anyone recommend anything?

Flexi fit non-wired bras from M&S are my go-to at the moment

I have found these worse than useless for my DD jugs ☹️

Runnyyolkplease · 16/02/2025 23:22

Boody are not supportive and do give a bit of a mono boob effect. Saying that, they are comfy and fit nicely across the back and wash well so they are my go to if I’m at home and not going anywhere.

lemonade dolls are pretty but badly fitting - none of the straps seem long enough or the fronts are a weird shape - I think it’s the different cut of the cups on the bigger sizes.

@FinallyHere totally agree. I usually get fitted in John Lewis although last time was in Selfridges (I thought JL had better service to be honest).m
ETA when I was 30 I got fitted at JL for the first time and had been in 36C since I was 16. Came out wearing a 30FF and feeling like Jordan! When I put one of my old bras on a couple of weeks later, it felt as if the whole thing, with my boobs in it, was just swinging wildly around my torso 🤣 I got rid of all the old ones straight away after that, couldn’t have worn them again.

Edited

Had exactly the same experience. Was wearing 38c and JL told me 34FF life changing 🤪

Just a thought - I find the Uniqlo brand tops give could shape and support, and come in lots of different styles. No underwires and comfy too.

Anything to avoid the monoboob effect @letshavetea ! I wear enough sports bras that I want my normal bras to make them look good 😂

I feel your pain but I don't think there's much option if like me you have big boobs. Its either underwire or monoboob. It might be worth trying some of the slightly more flattering non wired sports bras to see if they define enough. I'm thinking Sweaty Betty plunge or Shock Absorber Active Shape which seem to have better defined cups than the rest. John Lewis seems to stock both so maybe go and try them on?

I find Curvy Kate fit me best. I bought the same size in Triumph and it wouldn't do up. Find a brand that fits you and keep with it.

To the obviously rich PP rigby and peller woul need to last years for most of us to be able to afford them.

Needsomezzzz · 17/02/2025 15:17

I'm also 34F and I cannot find a comfortable supportive bra. I can't wear underwire.
I have tried M&S, Snag and Bravissimo, look fine when I first put on, but by end of day no support at all, all saggy and cut into my shoulders

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 17/02/2025 15:22

I'm a 36 F or G
Fantasie Rebecca is my go-to bra for comfort and fit.

Oceangrey · 17/02/2025 20:39

I recommended the Millie already, but for non wired I find Curvy Kate has the best options, they are clever with fabric. I also have the longline yoga bra from Decathlon which is super comfortable and looks ok under a t-shirt but not as separating as underwires bras. I buy the 2XL size as I'm about a J, and then I take out the padding and sew the straps shorter to provide more support as I'm short.

I second the Adella's - they have a vast range of sizes too!

I third the Adella from Brastop! I'm a 36H and have it in 4 different colours, super comfortable and give good lift and forward (rather than sideways!) projection as they have side support.

They're often on offer as well.

Any bra by Glamorise. So comfy, such a great shape. Also Miss Mary of Sweden.
