Comfortable bra for bigger boobs

…which doesn’t then make my boobs look like a shelf! I had 3 underwired bras (Panache, Freya etc) but they’re a bit tired, one has broken and one has developed a twisted strap that digs into my shoulder. I’m hoping someone has tried the cheaper, wire-free bras I see advertised on social media, Lemonade, Boody, and the like- or the even cheaper supermarket ones!

I need my boobs to be supported but also look shapely, because I have quite a solid torso and can look like a breezeblock. So something that lifts and shapes them rather than the sort of shelf effect you can get with some cropped top type sports bras. I’m a 34F in most styles of ‘proper’ bra. Can anyone recommend anything?

Honestly, the best bras I have ever bought are underwired moulded cups from Asda. About £8 and give me shape, lift and support (38H)

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 15/02/2025 07:45

I’m a 30h and the only bras I ever find comfortable are Freya balconette style. They give me great support and a nice shape too.

stargazer02 · 15/02/2025 07:53

I'm not sure about wire-free but my daughter wears a similar size to you and likes primarks moulded t-shirt bra (slight padding for shape)

FartyPrincess · 15/02/2025 07:54

Adella bras from Brastop. Underwired but the comfiest bras I’ve ever had. Also cheap.

I second the Adella's - they have a vast range of sizes too!

I am also a 34F and the Lemonade ones are fantastic – no wires, great shape and very comfortable. I have stopped wearing wired bras completely and I was a die-hard underwired bra wearer. Give them a go!

Oceangrey · 15/02/2025 09:02

The Millie style from Bravissimo is very comfortable and a nice shape.
Moulded bras work well, I have one from Panache and one from Fantasies. Have never found a cheaper make that works for me, but if you know what you want you may be able find them lightly used second hand.

ncforschoolhelp · 15/02/2025 09:07

Absolutely seconding the Asda bras!! Game changer.

Screamingabdabz · 15/02/2025 09:11

People have always recommended Asda bras when I’ve asked this question and they’re ok, but they’re not the best. The best bras are Fantasie moulded t shirt ones. They’re better for support than a top notch expensive sports bra I bought recently (went straight back!) and they give a smooth clean line. I’ve got them in every colour.

Visiting https://www.rigbyandpeller.com/en-gb in my early 20's was transformative for me. Having someone be able to tell by eye the kind of bra that would fit me and be comfortable seemed pretty much like witchcraft. I had expected that I would need the made to measure service and was amazed to find myself a standard size albeit 32H

Nowadays, when I need a fitting, I take half a days holiday and go up to the Knightsbridge one, in Hans Road, opposite Harrods.

I've tried other places and always go back.

Fantasie are my favourite.

Londonmummy66 · 15/02/2025 17:54

Fantasie are amazing - they also have a page on their website where you can work out which models are best for your shape of bust. Getting that right was a game changer for me. www.fantasie.com/uk/en/advice/bra-styles-for-your-shape/

Hollyhedge · 15/02/2025 17:56

Fantasie. 34FF unbelievable comfort and support

Ddakji · 15/02/2025 18:07

I’m the same size as the OP and I really struggle with finding a good supportive non-wired bra. I think there’s a big difference between big boobs and heavy, saggy boobs (mine are the latter) which need way way way more support and decent straps. So many “total support” bras seem designed for big but naturally perky boobs.

Had a look on the Lemonade website and was completely distracted by the horrible jacked up knickers and contorted poses! And they’re very garish.

AlertCat · 15/02/2025 21:32

I used to always buy Fantasie and Freya (think they’re the same company) but hoping to find a decent alternative that’s a bit more wallet-friendly. Rigby and Peller are almost certainly way out of my league! Has anyone tried Boody?

Meant to mention that I continue to be amazed by the difference in support provided in the right size bra when it has had the band and straps adjusted correctly someone who knows what they are doing

Yes, I'm still talking about having a bra fitted. It's one of those things where Until you have had something fitted properly you might not know how it's supposed to feel.

AlertCat · 16/02/2025 19:37

@FinallyHere totally agree. I usually get fitted in John Lewis although last time was in Selfridges (I thought JL had better service to be honest).m
ETA when I was 30 I got fitted at JL for the first time and had been in 36C since I was 16. Came out wearing a 30FF and feeling like Jordan! When I put one of my old bras on a couple of weeks later, it felt as if the whole thing, with my boobs in it, was just swinging wildly around my torso 🤣 I got rid of all the old ones straight away after that, couldn’t have worn them again.

Flexi fit non-wired bras from M&S are my go-to at the moment

Thighdentitycrisis · 16/02/2025 19:47

I’m a Fantasie and Freya underwired user too, I’m following for tips. I want a soft bra in 30F if it exists. Off to have a look at Lemonade.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 16/02/2025 19:50

Asda bras are incredible. I’ve worn expensive bras and these cheap ASDA moulded t-shirt bras are just as good. They don’t last forever, but they are cheap as chips so who cares.

AlwaysGardening · 16/02/2025 19:53

Elomie 'Morgan' is my go to bra. M&S sell them but don't seem quite a sturdy fabric as the ones direct from Elomie.

These offer absolutely zero support to the heavier bosom, though.

letshavetea · 16/02/2025 20:05

I am a 34GG and find Fantasie to be the best bras and and swimsuits.

ChangingHistory · 16/02/2025 20:21

I'm 32G and it's hell. Worn
Wired bras all my life with no issue but now find them uncomfortable.

Wire free I thought M&S flex fit was good at first but the band has become uncomfortable over time and the shape isn't good.
I tried all the bravissimo ones a few years ago and every single one had the shoulder strap seam right at the top, since the straps need to take more pressure than with a wire bra it became agony quickly.
IIRC Boody are the pull on ones, i didn't find them supportive or a good shape.
I've recently bought from Snag, far too small in the cup despite careful sizing, haven't recieved the replacement yet but they had wide bands so I'm more hopeful.
Recently bought a Panache one from brastop, seems OK but band is quite slim.

All of these were suggested in various threads on here by people who found them incredibly comfortable.

I'm currently wearing M&S flexi fit and the band is completely crumpled and rolled over. I do think karger boobs need wider bands, why are they all 2 hook? The snag was 4 hook so I'm hoping theyll be good.

So maybe snag. Def not bravissimo unless the style has changed, or Boody.

They’re great, and last, but sometimes wearing wires gets tiring and also they’re £40+ a pop, so I was wondering if there was a suitable non-wired cheaper option out there.
