Can anyone help me (well my hair) look less ridiculous by the end of a day at work?

My hair looks nice at the start of every day, I even get it nicely blow dried regularly (I have very weak arm muscles so can't style my hair easily)

It's shoulder length and fairly thick and looks nice down

But my job mainly involves a lot of intense focussed work, with occasional planned meetings or unexpected teams calls with colleagues/clients.

My hair starts nice but when I concentrate it really annoys me and I (almost subconsciously) end up screwing it up into a messy bun with a thin silk scrunchie. But it looks wildly chaotic. I think it's a sensory thing though that I like my hair all tied away when I am deep in thought.

Is there something I could use to keep my hair properly away from my face /neck when focussed that still looks professional/that allows me to pop my hair back down swiftly ? All the other women at work today still had lovely hair at the end of the day Blush

I am wondering about some kind of hairband or similar?

I can't do fancy hair styles /style buns nicely as my arms are too weak , I can only hold them up very briefly

Would something like this be do-able for you?
They had a couple of styles shown using these clips

Oh yes it might, will take a look , thank you!
Although it's the hair in front of my face too as I have some shorter layers , maybe I just need to grown them longer but they do look nice when it's down

My ex-hairdresser friend does the chignon bun thing - grab the hair and twist then pop a band over it, double wrap, et voila. The thing about it that I never properly appreciated, until she demonstrated the other day, is that when you release the hair afterwards it has a lovely swish and curl from being in the bun. The key is to tuck the hair into the band to make sure there are no loose strands when you put the bun up. I tend to do a low bun and I have a nice fancy scrunchie that I pop over the bun to help the look. My hair is very thick.

For thick hair what you may find better are the metal claw clips. I have a simple rose gold one. When my hair has been washing and blowdried it can be really shiny and the plastic ones can slip. The metal ones stay in place - I use one for a half 'pony tail'. Not sure it would put all my hair up but there are bigger ones you can get.

I know what you mean, I concentrate better with my hair away from my face too!

A half up half down with a claw clip is an easy one to do in the office.

Or just do a low bun - keep your parting, gather your hair at the nape of your neck and twist into a bun.

Although I think if you know you’re going to have a day like that, it’s probably easiest to style it up in the morning and then you don’t have to think about it for the rest of the day?

Could you use hair spray on the front parts? I tend to blow dry my fringe so it swishes back and then put some hair spray on it. Although I still have to avoid touching it. Having some desk figdet toys are helpful.

I think hair half up in a claw clip is a good up idea.

I think the problem is my hair looks nicer down/it's easier for me to do.

I keep longing for a hairband to get the hair all off my face when I am focussed but I can't think of any that look professional

Update, I have realised I just need to get a range of options and try them so I have bought some big claw clips and mini claw clips for office days and some headbands to see if they help at home.

But I am very open to other suggestions too!
