Petite party clothing

Been scrolling for hours and haven't found a single thing! Anyone seen anything nice in the shops or online? For an evening do. Needs to be petite and size small.

Things I like:
Fitted waist
Block colours
Not too high/ or too low neckline
Mini or midi, not in-between
Fast delivery as need it for the weekend!

This is a minefield!! Basically no in my recent experience.

I tried Closet London, Roman (both quite cheap brands), Hobbs, LK Bennett and Whistles petite. Didn’t like much but got something from closet london in the end. There’s very little on vinted too.

Littleguggi · 09/02/2025 21:26

I thought maybe because party season is over with Xmas parties etc but surely there's a party happening somewhere anytime of the year! Are people just wearing gymwear to parties these days as that's all available (maybe an exaggeration)?!!

Agree! I should have added that my dress from Closet wasn’t great and I ended up not going to the event! I’m very post partum though so that wasn’t helping matters.

There’s a definite gap in the market for nice petite clothes. My requirements were similar to yours - midi, block colour and not too titty! All the petite party options are horrid and I can’t wear non petite sizing (I’m usually a COS/Arket type person so don’t often shop petite brands) like usual as a midi would be trailing the ground on 5’3 me.

Sorry not to be more helpful!!

shuffleofftobuffalo · 09/02/2025 21:36

There's such a shortage of petite clothing. The best I've found are white stuff - worth a look but a very particular vibe (I happen to like but many don't) and Hobbs, again very particular look. Roman was ok too but style wise not very inspiring. Next have quite a lot of petite stuff to from a range of brands.

Littleguggi · 09/02/2025 21:36

No it's helpful actually because I thought i was being mega fussy, so it's just confirmed that there really is nothing available! I checked all the shops you mentioned and didn't like any. I'll have to shop my wardrobe and hope something fits and doesn't look too dated!

It’s awful isn’t it so much petite stuff is really old fashioned. I occasionally get lucky in Next, Phase 8, Hobbs but also get stuff tailored if I can’t get what I’m looking for.

Givemecoffee77 · 09/02/2025 21:42

M&S also have a few party things left in their petite ranges. They did fab sequin stuff this year but think it’s all sold out now.

Littleguggi · 09/02/2025 21:45

I'm trying to steer away from velvet or sequins tbh as it's giving Xmas party vibes

Phase eight, John Lewis (to scan different brands) and Next are my go too. ASOS also but it’s hit and miss.

Yeah I’d agree.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 09/02/2025 21:54

boden do a good petite range, but it’s more casual day wear or work wear.

they might have something in their clearance left from Christmas.

is it definitely a dress you want? (Separates would be easier, or maybe a jumpsuit) Can you link to the sort of thing you want from a “normal” range?

Littleguggi · 09/02/2025 22:01

I can't even see anything I like in the 'normal' range, out of desperation I've looked at non-petite clothing too!

Ideal would be a mini dress, with a waist, maybe long sleeves. Or a jumpsuit (but this would definitely need to be petite).

There's a lot of long fitted mesh dresses around, not sure how I feel about them! I prefer some structure to my clothing. I'm 37 btw if that helps 🤷‍♀️

Reiss and whistles both have some petite things too- you might find something party suitable in those.

ruling out sequins and velvet does make it harder this time of year.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 09/02/2025 22:11

mango but not petite but only £13

Shetlands · 09/02/2025 22:14

There's nothing in dresses here that fits your description but they do have some jumpsuits you might like:

Imenti · 09/02/2025 22:23

Have you looked on Pixie Girl? Thats a petite only brand. Lipsy (through Next) do stuff in petite as well, I got a great ball gown from there for Christmas and I didn't even have to have it taken up! The dream! 🤣 Good luck xx

Britpopbaby · 10/02/2025 13:05

Try River Island as they have a petite range.

I’ve just posted this on another thread -

https://www.vogue.co.uk/article/best-petite-dresses

You could follow up some of the brands listed and see what they currently have that suits your proportions. In fact I’d be amazed if you couldn’t find something you like from any of the 40 brands linked at the end of the article.)

(I have no connection to either Vogue or any of the shops listed!)

Strengths · 10/02/2025 16:20

How about this? Not officially petite, but I'm 5'2 and it fits me. Not structured, but it's not too shapeless on me (I've got to fit some large boobs in, so tend to like a fitted waist usually too).

Hobbs
Reiss
Boden
Whistles

all have petite ranges.

Littleguggi · 10/02/2025 20:54

I appreciate all the recommendations and have looked at them all, but I still haven't found anything I love! I've come to the realisation that I have better clothes in my wardrobe!

Roman have a lot of petite dresses. ASOS also have a big petite range.
