Actually comfortable work trousers

Hi all,

I need a major workwear wardrobe overhaul as I don't currently have any formal work trousers. I'm a size 12-14 and pear shaped so I need something that's not too tight in the hips/thighs, but I don't want something which is massively wide legged (ie no flares). I'm looking for recommendations for trousers which are super comfortable/stretchy, but also good quality. No specific budget in mind as I'm happy to pay for the right thing!

I like M&S for trousers.

Halara are worth a try. I like the "work" trousers best but most of my work trousers are from there. Just need them to make a "proper" jacket with matching trousers for a suit, ideally navy and I'd be done shopping forever!

Are there any specific ones you'd recommend? They have so many options!

I saw a blog where they tried loads of Halara stuff on.

The main issues seem to be the consistency in sizing (comes up very small) and cheap quality material. At the end of the day, it still cheaply made Chinese stuff. Plus there seemed to be problems with returning unwanted items.

I'd go with a proper brand. M&S or Next do decent quality trousers. Next have a vast selection online which you can order and collect next day for free.

Saint and Sofia Chelsea pants are very comfortable but look smart. I have a few pairs and the quality of S&S has decreased since I started wearing them but they’re still nice. (Don’t buy jackets as usually unlined ).

I second the ones @ShebaQueenposted - good thick fabric, hard wearing and comfortable. I buy the extra long so that they are normal length rather than ankle grazers (I'm tall).

I've been buying work trousers from Matalan recently. They have a lot of choice and are decent quality and good value. I was surprised but they are good for workwear.

Uniqlo smart trousers work for me. I like the wide ones but they do tapered ones too.
Hobbs tailored trousers are good too but often dry clean only.
