Current fashions awful for the big of nork!

Anyone else finding this season’s clothes very difficult to navigate?

Short, cropped boxy styles are awful on me!

Shapeless, oversized jackets make me look like a bulky cartoon figure on top.

Also I’m sixty!

Where on earth can I buy clothes please?

Tall. Big boobs. Big stomach. Narrow shoulders. Slim hips. Eighteen bottoms. 20 on top.

Previously went for a 1970s silhouette; with slim fitting ribbed polo, low V-neck, collar, paired with wide, flared trousers and loafers. Wore that stye in all variations for casual/work/going out. Felt good.

Now though, there are still wide trousers about, but instead of being flat at the front they are slightly pegged or pleated. And I’m
a mid-waist not a high waist.

And short cropped jumpers are no good at all if you need extra length to go over boobs; not to mention wildly unflattering.

Big bulky sleeves and dropped shoulder styles add bulk where it’s not needed.

All the clothing that enhances my figure eg tops which go in or out have disappeared. I need close fitting, not over-sized, tops when my trousers are wide.

I thought I’d buy a white high frilly collar blouse with beautiful sleeves for work and wear a navy wool v neck tank top over it. But all the tank tops have round necks and are barely long enough to go over my bosom.

Where do I shop for more classic fitted styles please? Even Marks has gone all baggy! Trouble is, we’re renovating, so I don’t have an unlimited budget!

Agreed. I'd especially like to see the back of those puffy sleeves with gathers at the shoulder, which make me look like someone just inflated my whole upper body with a bicycle pump.

😆😆

Couldn’t have put it better myself Tonkall

What bewilders me is that there seems to be very little thought or adaptation of designs for plus size ranges. It’s the same u flattering design simply crated on a bigger scale.

I'm always amazed at the lack of boob space in clothes. You look at the garment and the front is completely flat, no darts or gathers, where are they supposed to go?

I find winter much easier because jumpers have stretch. Summer is awful, I want to wear light cotton or linen but it doesn't have stretch and isn't shaped, I may as well wear a paper bag.

I go with stretchy shirts and loose linen trousers and Jersey maxis with some stretch. I don't really feel dressed for work or somewhere more formal.

I completely agree. I'm so fed up with hearing "this has dropped shoulders so if you are larger in the bust it's perfect". It isn't and never will be, it adds width where you are already big!

Totally this! Where have all the darts gone?

Also agree that winter is easier. I dread summer!

I wear large linen shirts that tend towards tent! Distract with bright interesting necklaces which fool no one. At least linen can be stretched a bit when wet. But I agree that it doesn’t look formal enough for work and one can’t afford to look creased at my age!

I’ve had moderate successes with light cotton tunic-notch-neck more fitted blouses, but some tend to the see-through. And of course if you are big of nork , you need a solid bra underneath which you don’t want to flash at my age.

My conclusion is that there must be very few big-boobed women working in the fashion industry? .

Mid rise jeans wide jeans, most are flat fronted M&S really long link

Fashionable waistcoats https://aligne.co/collections/tailoring

Wow! Thank you so much for all of those suggestions! That’s really helpful and much appreciated.

I am about to order the Baukjen jeans! Those are perfect! Thank you 😆

And for the jackets; I love the shaping on most of them but for me I am better with a v-neck so the Daphne would be the best. I might give it a go if the material is stretchy enough.

I do need a jacket but I tend to wear fairly stretchy fabrics on my top half. Ribbed fabrics tend to work the best as they follow curves well.

Thank you again - and for those brand links - I haven’t heard of half of them so really useful.
