Botox breastfeeding

I have an 19month old baby, I’ve been waiting to have botox untilI stop breastfeeding but is been difficult to wean my baby. I want to get botox, I’ve been reading a lot about it and I understand the answer is inconclusive. I want to know the experience of other breastfeeding mums that got botox, did you pump and dumb?

No reputable botox provider will do it while you're breastfeeding.

Everythingisnumbersnow · 01/02/2025 19:54

How can a baby of nearly 2 not be weaned?!?

The WHO recommend breastfeeding past 2 years.

Isthisrealomgwow · 01/02/2025 20:13

Historically I suffered awful migraines. The next step in treatment was botox but my consultant wouldn't offer it while breastfeeding.

EternalSunshine19 · 01/02/2025 20:17

Can't you just wait until you're not breastfeeding? Its not like you need it, it's just vanity

But WITH actual food

So what? Perfectly acceptable and in fact encouraged to breastfed a child who is almost 2.

Let’s not shame women for doing something so natural, eh?

Ah, you mean you don’t actually know what weaned means. Now your first post makes sense.

Starryknightcloud · 01/02/2025 20:35

Good for you still feeding.
If any botox was in your breastmilk you'd be dead I believe...
Saying that you may struggle to find anywhere who would do it, though the doctor who does mine said she does her own while breastfeeding - unsure if that would extend to clients though.

amotej · 02/02/2025 16:01

Of course she eats food, and there is nothing better for a baby to be breastfeeding until they are 2 years old, is sad that no many mums do it pass 6 months.

Of Course, she eats food, Do you think she is living from milk for 1.5 years? Hahaha... not many women nowadays breastfeed after 6 months, but if you inform yourself a little bit, you will see is the best for a baby/toddler. My daughter hasn't been sick much since she was born, and I'm 100% sure it is due to the fact I'm still breastfeeding.

I'd wait.

TidyingThePantry · 02/02/2025 18:10

I'd wait, if I were you. The research just isn't there and it's not worth the risk.

Botox is a poison (no judgement meant by that - just fact).

I breastfed until my first was 3 years old. Also not ill often. Well done!

You can’t pump and dump it’s not alcohol. Stay away until baby is weaned it’s just not worth the risk

It would void their insurance

I don’t think you understood my comment so it’s a bit off you’ve been snarky to me. I was responding to the other poster who thinks your child has had no food.

I have “informed” myself. I breastfed my first until he was 2y4m and my second is still being breastfed at 15 months…

RabbitsEatPancakes · 02/02/2025 18:37

I've seen US Dr's saying that botox is safe when breastfeeding but I personally wouldn't.

Pump and dump wouldn't work since it's not being metabolised by your body, it's staying in it. Also pump and dump is very outdated and not needed for alcohol.

Do you have a timeframe for weaning? I would just wait for the botox.

UpYonder · 02/02/2025 18:37

Any reputable injector wouldn’t do it whilst breastfeeding (it’s great you are still breastfeeding btw❤️)

Short answer is I’d just wait till you’ve stopped.
