Loafers and socks

I saw mention of wearing socks with loafers on another thread, and I always assumed people would point and laugh/silently judge me if they saw me doing this. Have I got that wrong?

If so - what socks are acceptable? Are we talking popsocks, or something substantial enough that they would actually stop my feet freezing/getting blisters (the whole reason I very rarely actually wear loafers)?

Socks seem to be having a Renaissance at the moment. (Although hell would have to freeze over before I wore bright white socks over leggings Gen Z style)

I think a plain sock with a loafer is fine, I was a nice creamy beige pair with my loafers yesterday and didn't spot anyone pointing and laughing so think I got away with it 🧦

I think some cute short ankle socks would look good. Sheer ankle socks as well.

I think most things go TBH. Probably better with plain neutral colours (or a bright colour if its to help add an accent).

Im hoping that socks are here to stay! They make shoes so much more comfy and as somebody who suffers with permanently cold feet (2 pairs worn in winter, 1 pair in summer!) Im very, very happy.😀

There is a feminist viewpoint that if the answer to the question is "does this also apply to men?" is no, then unless the question relates to biological differences, there's no reason for the answer to be no.

What looks really daft to me is bare ankles in winter with any type of shoe. It's particularly daft if the bare ankles are female walking beside besocked male ankles.

Loafers are my summer shoe of choice for work. I have quite thick ankles so wearing with socks and my tapered trousers looks a bit chunky. However, I’ve recently switched to wide leg/plazzo trousers and I now want to switch to socks. I’m so sick of cold feet, pop socks falling down or hidden footsie sock things pinging off the back of my heel and bunching up in my shoe!!

So, answer me this, what colour/length socks with tan loafers?

As usual if someone said it was fashionable to wear your bra on your backside you would get people who would do it 🤷‍♀️

I wear loafers and socks with skirts, also heeled sandals with socks. I've got many pairs of beautiful socks.

With what colour and length of trouser? Ideally with wide legs I think your trousers should be long enough that you don't really see the sock.

i have both black and navy trousers. Both very wide and long (almost skim the ground).

I have black, tan and burgundy loafers.
