Help me, I have my first date in five years

Because of a calamity of accidents over the last 67 months I have not been to the gym and even though I've only put 13lb on it feels like three times that because everything saggy baggy wiggly wobbly

I'm 5 foot three I'm curvy because my boobs are myself 34H usually, I am no longer a very small 14 but more like a busting into 16 and maybe more in some shops

We are going to a local pub that does live music. I don't feel comfortable in any of my jeans, but I'm wondering if that's because they're not a good style for me.

I live in Leeds. I hate clothes shopping. Can anyone even point me in the right direction of what the hell I need to be buying!?

I have got several pleated skirts and bias cut satin skirts and tops to go with them and boots because I refuse to wear trainers with them because it just feels weird, but I can wear trainers with them because I have about 30 pairs 🤣

Well, because of an accident I was using voice text until that didn't work and for some reason I cannot edit my post but I think most people can probably work out what it says and I'm so sorry I will type from now on one finger with my left hand🤣

I really like the MOM style jeans, if they are ankle grazers too they will be good with trainers. Then style with a fine knit jumper, perhaps a bright colour that complements your skin, hair and eye colour.

I'm not sure about proportions, but barrel leg jeans/wide but not too vast are very popular right now. Olivia Coleman was wearing a fabulous outfit recently - big jeans and a gorgeous jumper with a soft roll neck with a diamond pattern on. Very stylish and chic. With trainers.

I hope you have a wonderful evening. Even though it's winter, I would plan to be hot in a packed venue. So I would wear a nice coat and gloves and scarf, but then thinner things, like loose barrel legged trousers and a smart but comfortable top, and focus on my hair! Small handbag, like a teeny tiny cross body, so that I wouldn't have to put it in the table or floor.

Oh yes! Shiny hair and subtle dewy makeup!
nice perfume and earrings

keep it simple, jeans, shirt boots

have fun!!!

Don’t buy or wear clothes you don’t feel comfortable in. I hate wearing jeans. I find them too heavy and scratchy. I’m a similar shape to you, and in your shoes I’d wear something like a pair of black Hollister wide leg trousers (incredibly flattering but comfortable), a black T shirt or vest type top, and a lightweight cardigan or cropped shirt over.

I just ordered the Sainsbury's barrel leg thread after reading the fan thread on here. This board is such a a bad influence! I'd team with a smart top, blazer and smart trainers as you're going to a pub. You won't look out of place and not too try hard. Just do your hair and some nice makeup.

Tbh, @Nugg I’d imagine your date will be so enthralled with the recounting of your calamitous, accident prone life that they won’t even notice what you’re wearing.

But I’d advise one of the bias cut satin skirts. With a beautiful new fluffy jumper in your most flattering colour. Maybe short sleeved if the venue is warm. If you have very cool new boots, knee high or mid calf they would be fine, as would your favourite trainers - depending on comfort and environment.

Oh thank you all SO much - I have never even tried barrel leg jeans or trousers, I do love wide leg ones though - lots to try I better get myself out shopping after work and trying things on 😁

@MsWintertowne he is already enthralled at just how accident prone I am - at least it will give us something to talk and laugh about 😆
