Hair loss help

I'm a few years into experiencing hairloss. I'm 34 and this started when I was 31 following a period of ill health, extreme stress which I'm sure is linked.

Initially Alopecia Aerata with massive all over thinning which regrew eventually.
Only for the last 24 months I've had TE and I reckon I have lost 2/3 of my hairs thickness, not a word of a joke. If you saw my hair before it was something out of a fairytale.

Only I've come to the realisation having had a good look, and a bit of a shock in the mirror at how grey I am. Seriously they're everywhere!!

Only I haven't lost a single grey hair. At all. I've saved the hair shed in hair washes since 1 January and not single grey hair is in the bunch.

What on earth!!!

Has anyone else had similar. According to Google grey hair is weaker. Not mine. Photo of massive 2025 hairball for tax.

Have you had any blood tests? My dd who is late teens did over weekend and results came back that she has low iron and low vitamin D.

I have, and no concerns.

Sorry to hijack the thread OP but had your teen been checked for Coeliac disease Secondstart?

Secondstart1001 · 27/01/2025 22:10

@100PercentFaithful no she hasn’t but everything else seems good. What else should I look out for? x

What was your ferritin and b12?

Secondstart1001 · 27/01/2025 22:12

@ToBeOrNotToBee have you started to use rosemary oil mixed in with coconut oil, massage your scalp with this every day to stimulate hair growth. I can check see what I use if it helps plus a massaging shampoo brush?

What was your ferritin and b12?

Ferritin 111
B12 443
Foliate 16.2

All very normal and within range for hair growth.

I'm more wondering why my grey hair seem immune from the shedding.

I am not sure but grey hairs always love to make a pain the the arse of themselves!

ThirdStorm · 27/01/2025 22:19

Yes! I had very thick hair and now I have so much less. I started taking collagen and biotin and I think I’m now starting to see less shedding and more re growth. Like you I wish the grey would fall out but alas it won’t budge!

Hurryupsummer3 · 28/01/2025 20:22

Have you ruled out meds as cause?
I suffered Alopiecia after switching birth control & from Covid jab.
I now won’t take anything even if listed as a very slim chance as I seem to fall in that!
I noticed you mentioned a period of illness so wondered if it was anything prescribed.
