Extra Short

Hoolahoophop · 24/01/2025 14:10

Hey, does anyone know of anyone other than M&S that does extra short length trousers? I want a new pair of jean that actually fit. But M&S don't have ANY jeans in my size in extra short in stock!

So wondering if there is anywhere else to look.

I bought a pair of petite jeans from next this week to try and they are not only too long, but the shape is off so cant just whip a couple of inches off the bottom.

Does anyone do waist and leg length measurements rather than size and petite.

I don't get shopping much, and haven't bought jeans for about 15 years.

Thanks.

Uniqlo do free alterations?

I didn't know that. Never used them! One of the problems though is that when you are soooo short the alteration takes a bit off the bottom. But the knees seem to be in the wrong place! It's a pain being so very short.

I'm 5'1" and still find next ok - I bought some trousers quite recently. I guess it may depend on which style exactly.

Re specific lengths, I've not bought jeans from lands end for a long time but they do lots of their styles in petite fittings and some of them can be hemmed to custom inside leg measurement, I think.

ErrolTheDragon · 24/01/2025 14:23

How tall are you?

4ft 11!

I'm a tiddler! But also quite solidly built, not a lovely petite waif. I am large of bust and hips and since having my children now have a lovely round tummy. Still a 12 but for my height that makes me look quite stocky. I've always considered myself Short rather than Petite if that makes sense.

It must be a leg length v torso length thing as I'm 5'1" and petite or short lengths are ankle grazers on me!!

Darklane · 24/01/2025 15:53

Matalan used to sell jeans with actual inch leg length rather than short/long etc. I’m only just 5’ & found them great in not the shortest they did! But I haven’t visited them for a while so can’t say if they still do them.

Bignanna · 24/01/2025 16:50

The shortest seem to be 25” inside leg. You could try Bon Marche, Petite, Cotton Traders, Amazon . Otherwise it’s children’s trousers.

I’m also 4’11’ - have you heard of aesthetic laundry? They do made to order stuff and the length is great on me. They’ve just launched jeans, but they are very reasonable priced.

Idontjetwashthefucker · 24/01/2025 17:32

I'm losing weight so have been buying lots of jeans lately in smaller sizes. I buy them from Bon Marche as they are cheap, wash well and comfortable. They do 25", 27", 29" and 31" - I get the 25" and they just graze my ankles. £20/pair!

Violetparis · 24/01/2025 17:34

I'm 5ft and have no idea why shops especially M&S have increased the length of their short length jeans. I now look for the 'ankle grazer' styles of jeans, the short length ones in M&S are full length on me. Also got some regular length 'ankle grazer' wide jeans in H&M which are full length on me too.

Doggymummar · 24/01/2025 17:35

Levis, Abercrombie, all start at 25 I think I saw in the sales.

Hoolahoophop · 24/01/2025 17:56

Thanks so much everyone lots of good ideas here for my search. @Bignanna I wish I could try children's as they may be cheaper unfortunately I am very much not child shaped!

This thread reminded me I bought a pair of jeans from m&s just after they'd made 'short' too long. They been languishing unworn in the wardrobe but I realised they should be just what I need for an upcoming trip, if I could just be bothered to turn them up. And glory be when I opened my sewing box I found a roll of wonderweb I didn't know I had.

So thanks, OP.Grin

I’ll be watching this thread with interest. I’m nearly 5 ‘3’ so not exactly tiny but have found all short lengths have suddenly got longer. They used to average petite lengths at an inside of 27 inches but now seem to be 29, hardly short.

purpleme12 · 24/01/2025 19:24

Oh no I'm worried now with people saying things have got longer

Britpopbaby · 24/01/2025 19:33

Definitely got longer

Fairislesweater · 24/01/2025 23:04

Snag are doing jeans now as well which might work?

weeredmotor · 24/01/2025 23:09

I recently bought some hourglass jeans from Next in short length ( am just over 5 foot) and they fit really well everywhere except the length which is at least 3 inches too long and can only wear with big boots

brusselsprout5 · 24/01/2025 23:12

I'm 5' & size 12. I like Lovall jeans. Used to be called Love Leggings. They fit really well. Not cheap though.

EllaView · 24/01/2025 23:18

I am 4’9 and have recently started, reluctantly, to make my own jeans. M&S used to reliably have extra short jeans in stock and I really miss them. It’s not just the leg length-crotch, waist to hip and leg are too long in “short” lengths now.

purpleme12 · 24/01/2025 23:26

I really need some jeggings cos my others are so worn and this is making me apprehensive now 🙈

madaboutpurple · 25/01/2025 01:36

New Look were featured in the fashion section on This morning on Tuesday. They had ladies who were very tall and small on and New Look was favoured by a really petite lady.
