Petite ski clothes

I’m skiing this feb half term, I’m short so need petite length legs. I’m a size 8 but while the length of aged 13-14 fits, that’s more like a size 6 and not comfortable. I’ve found Mountain warehouse do a pair of black salopettes in petite, does anyone know of other brands that do short leg women’s ski pants? (I’d like something bright for a second pair).

OP, the UK website Snowheads is really knowledgeable.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 23/01/2025 07:05

Thank you! Seems short people dont ski.

Halti do a short length range for women. I’m your height and I just sew up the trousers with a machine. The inner ankle snow skirt is elastic so it doesn’t matter if it’s too long as it sits above the boot anyway.

FiddlefigOnTheRoof · 23/01/2025 07:34

Remember to be the right length for ski boots, trousers have ti be much longer than usual anyway - so they’ll drag on the floor when you try them on.

I am 5ft 3, and I've trashed so many pairs of women's ski /snowboard pants over the years because I cant avoid walking on the ends in the snow but.. I've now owned the same pair of Burton teenager salopettes for about 5 years now - they're just the right length, fit me as a size 10, cosy, great quality, I cant recommend them enough!

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 23/01/2025 17:28

Ooh, @Sarri - what age Burton fits a size 10?

thanks all, I know they need to be a it long but there’s a bit long and there’s silly lengths!

If you do get totally stuck I have some Burton snowboard trousers in Navy small size 10 but with belt loops that you could have – they are way to small for me now and I'm 5'2.

Burton do short leg BTW if you hunt on Vinted, Ebay you can find them, and sweaty betty ski gear also comes in a shorter leg, again I'd look 2nd hand.

Try Roxy in a girl’s age 14 or 16. The styles are often identical to the women’s range but cheaper which is an added plus! My niece who is your size/height found loads of options in there.

Mountain warehouse girls age 13-14?

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 23/01/2025 21:10

Ah the mountain warehouse girls is more like a size 6. The waist I can do up but they are super tight across the hips. The age 15 fits like a size 8, but is more like a regular length so doesn’t solve the problem!

I’ve got a pair of salopettes from mountain warehouse, but this year they have only one pair in short leg, that’s plain black. Also interestingly I’ve found a couple of other short leg options searching, but seems that every ski company only offers the short leg in black ski trousers. Short people wear black on the slopes it seems!

I saw that lidl currently have pink and black ladies salopettes starting at size 8 for £16.99. They aren't petite or shorter in the leg, but for that price, you could take the legs up or just have them as a spare pair.

I bought the XL and they're a good fit - there's detailed sizing chart on here. Bought mine years ago so the colours have all changed but there's some brighter options. Also you dont get snow down your back, they are cosy!

Kid's Burton Skylar Bib Pants

I'm 5ft 3 and have realised searching for petite ski sallopettes gets you nowhere. You need to look for the ones with adjustable lengths, rather than short or petite. I ended up getting my last couple of pairs fairly cheaply from decathlon, they have poppers inside you can pin up to whatever length you need, and worked well for my height!

InTheRainOnATrain · 24/01/2025 13:52

Definitely do not get asos ski pants described only as ‘water repellent’. A snowy day and/or a couple of falls and you’ll completely be wet through. Trailing trousers are preferable to that!!

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 24/01/2025 18:00

Oh now I haven’t skied for a few years (hence needing new stuff !) but even then I spent a lot of time picking myself up from the various falls, ASOS is out!

Not any help as I've never seen shorter/petite saloppettes anywhere in Europe but if I was you I'd look at age 14 kids', just a plain pair so you won't be able to tell? Who cares anyway as long as you're comfortable.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 24/01/2025 18:16

@ParsnipPuree - this only works for most brands if you are very slim- I used to just do that, but that’s when I was a size 6 for waist/hips, and now I’m an 8, most kids ones are too tight! 😬

but wil try some kids Burton ones this weekend to see if they are possible if you have a little more padding. (This has been rather a humbling experience- I did think I was doing pretty well at size 8. Clearly not for the skiing crowd.)

OP posts:
ParsnipPuree · 24/01/2025 18:21

Doesn't sound like you have much padding to you can get anywhere near kids clothes!😂
We're off next week and I've packed mine knowing full well I can't get into them!

@FancyBiscuitsLevel I’ve had a couple of short length from dare2be from this AMAZING website: https://theshortskishop.com

Have you tried Oysho? They're Spanish so might cater for smaller bodies.

Just to say thank you @museumum - I have some lovely dusky pink ski pants from the short ski company waiting to be packed.
