Hi , I'm being sucked in to the hype around this product . It's not cheap though so I'm resisting (so far !) has anyone used it ? The balm , not the foundation .

Yes, I love it. I have it in Au Naturel which is the untinted one and I just dab a tiny, and I mean tiny, amount on in a 3 shape around the sides of my face. It’s not to everyone’s taste though, so you’ll get a lot saying they don’t like it

Boxfreshrussell · 20/01/2025 21:30

It looks great for dry skin but on oily skin I imagine it would be like a grease slick!

TaggieO · 20/01/2025 21:34

I found all the Jones Road stuff horribly prone to creasing!

TaggieO · 20/01/2025 21:35

by which I mean sitting in any line on my face and looking shit :(

User664334 · 20/01/2025 21:43

They have an aggressive online campaign...I casually looked at it once and was followed by Google ads for literally 3 months.

It all feels a bit snake oil tbh. As PP mentioned, if you're only using a tiny bit of untinted balm on three areas of your face, there is objectively not going to be any difference at all. However what they're selling is the fact that YOU THINK there's a difference. The product is marketed at middle aged women as a kind of "embrace your natural beauty" schtick. The act of applying a bit of tinted balm is supposed to make you feel younger and more confident, when in reality, nobody looking at you can actually tell a difference. Maybe your cheeks are a bit shinier but let's be honest, does that really matter on a perimenopausal face with wrinkles?

It reminds me of how those brilliant Lip Smacker lip glosses were sold to teenagers. You felt insanely grown up and womanly after getting your first tube of lip gloss but, objective, it made zero difference whatsoever to your face.

The balm literally has the same consistency as coconut oil or one of those make up removing cleansers. Cannot imagine the product having a significant staying power or the pigment remaining smooth without getting stuck in creases.

Attictroll · 20/01/2025 21:44

I bought the revolution dupe and don't use it as much as I hoped but use it in the office as a quick pick me up and feels lovely esp with heating and air on drying skin

stanleypops66 · 20/01/2025 21:44

Far too greasy for my skin.

peanutbuttertoasty · 20/01/2025 21:44

I like the foundation but the balm is shit

HelloMyNameIsElderSmurf · 20/01/2025 21:47

I really like it and use the bronzer all the time in summer, when I've got a bit of colour in my face. I do a bit of concealer, maybe a sweep of Trinny BFF then the balm. Job done.

I am super-minimal though and really don't like wearing make up.

bubblecity · 20/01/2025 21:51

I love the “magic hour” balm which is a sheer, shimmery one. I hated the stuff at first but I worked out that I was using way too much - a little bit (and I mean a tiny bit!) goes a LONG way. I put a few bits on my cheek and nose most days and I’m still on my first pot after about a year of use. I like to put my makeup on first and let it all settle while I do my hair and finish getting ready and I find that it looks less greasy by the time I’m done.

I don’t particularly like the more pigmented versions because you apply the stuff with your fingers and I don’t like it getting under my nails… and I find “au natural” to be a bit pointless.

changecandles · 20/01/2025 23:21

I've tried so many times and I can't get with it.

Breaks down foundation, blush or concealer or anything else under it.

Doesn't dry down so dust and hair stick to your face

Creases

I think maybe in summer on holiday over just spf it might work but that's a very specific situation. I can't see how to use it every day. Or even every week.

catsareme14 · 21/01/2025 00:33

Thank you for all your replies.
I'm conflicted!

Well, I like mine, it's a pinky shade and gives a really natural hint of colour. I wasn't keen at first, but once I got the hang of it, yeah, it's my favourite blusher now. And despite the long post above saying if makes no difference and it's all in your mind 🤔 it makes me look loads better. I use a bit of Laura Mercier or Charlotte Tilbury powder over the top to not look too shiny.

Pot is way bigger than it needs to be though, barely made a dent in mine. Think it'll last forever.

It does seem to be a polarising product. Like I say, I didn't much care for it at first either.

beachcitygirl · 21/01/2025 01:42

I got it as a gift and prefer the revolution dupe which is cheap as chips
Just don't

KnightonShiningArmour · 21/01/2025 05:28

Revolution one for me too. The Jones Road one doesn’t smell very nice to me at all.

notasgreenasiamcabbagelooking · 21/01/2025 06:58

I got some of the minis to try on their Black Friday promotion and I have already bought a bigger one of the Bronze (not because I'd run out) and will probably get a bigger blusher at some point. I really like it (including the smell) and a little goes a long way. I use it on top of the Erborian CC cream for a more natural look and it's easy to top up throughout the day if needed. The pp is right about it getting stuck under your nails though.

AllFours · 21/01/2025 07:05

I love the Revolution dupe, I’ve got all the colours & use them for different occasions/purposes. But I don’t wear any other face makeup (just eyes & lips), so it gives my face a nice healthy glow and a bit of a colour boost during the dull winter months.

PeachyKeane · 21/01/2025 07:09

I just wear eborian cc cream and the revolution dupe. That's all I need. I have had so many compliments about how wonderful my skin is for my age (55) how I look healthy and natural. It's using tret as well that means I really don't need to wear much makeup.

Bejinxed · 21/01/2025 07:11

I have it. It's okay, but not amazing - basically tinted Vaseline for a lot more ££££. I have very dry skin but even so, it feels quite greasy and like it is sitting on top of the skin.

SexAndCakes · 21/01/2025 19:56

I have the face balm in natural and a bush colour. I like it a lot but wear it on bare skin. I don't think it would sit well on foundation etc. I was in love with it when I first bought it but stopped using it after a while because my long hair kept sticking to it!

They made mini pots for a while - I'd try one of those first if you can. The standard tubs are huge and a lot to have lying around if you don't like it.

Dryerjanuary · 21/01/2025 19:59

It’s awful. My hair sticks in it. Pore clogging stuff

faustina · 21/01/2025 20:13

I love it and it does make a difference. For me, it definitely doesn't make my face look oily, though I do have dry skin and I am very sparing with it. I also use the foundation which I really like too. It is very hyped up but after a long time of using products which didn't quite work for me I don't use anything else on my face now. Very annoying that you don't seem to be able to buy the little sample pots on Ebay anymore because it's quite an expensive gamble.

MulberryPeony · 21/01/2025 20:35

I bought one of the colours and it’s okay. Like you I resisted for ages. Nothing particularly special. I use it as eyeshadow, blush/highlighter. I do get spots it I use it all over unfortunately. I didn’t go for the revolution as the ingredients are much better in the JR but if you are just using as blush it won’t be an issue.

Serenster · 21/01/2025 20:57

I love it - I have 3 (rose, coral, bronzer) and use one of them every day over Erborian CC cream (almost like PeachyKeane!). I also have “mature” skin and I don’t find this combination creases.

Fabulastic · 21/01/2025 21:03

I resisted for ages before I caved in and bought some but wish I hadn't. I'm not sure what it's meant to do- my hair sticks to it and it's barely tinted grease which does nothing for me. I like a natural look but this just doesn't work for me.
