Has anyone tried this?
Is it another Il Makiage?

I'm not a fan of choosing colours online either

But I've been sucked into the hype of being great for over 40 skin and not sinking into fine lines etc

Hi I asked about it on here actually before buying. Yes I bought it and yes I like it. I use the baked foundation. It is very light in texture, much lighter than your average liquid foundation.
I also bought a brush from them to apply it with.

I also bought the baked foundation, which seems to suit my sensitive skin. I love it, it’s not very high coverage although is a little buildable.

FUBAR77 · 20/01/2025 07:54

It is lovely although if your skin is on the drier side (like mine) it’s not the best as it seems to look drier throughout the day.

stanleypops66 · 20/01/2025 08:12

I use the baked foundation every day and really like it, however I use it more as a setting powder over my foundation, never on its own. That's just personal preference though as I find a liquid foundation sits better on my skin.

Oh wow I was expecting lots of 'noooo' 'waste of money'

Just wondering how to navigate the colour matching
I think I'm pale but on No7 and clarins I'm not the lightest shades

I just took a chance, they have a returns policy that looks fair. The foundation lasts really well, so much so that I probably need a paler shade now it’s winter! Only downside is they send an enormous amount of marketing emails, about 3 a day.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 20/01/2025 15:32

I also like it (also tried il makiage which was awful on my skin) I used the baked and brighten in fair, it gives just enough coverage for day to day wear without looking made up - I just look like a smoother version myself. The first colour I tried was far too dark and they refund no questions asked so I could get the lighter shade.

saltandvinegarchipsticks · 20/01/2025 19:25

I too use the Baked Balance & Brighten, I consider myself to be quite pale and often need very light shades but Fair works well for me in this. It can be a little dry but it does sit well on my skin and doesn’t sink into wrinkles, it looks natural and I’m pleased with it.

aprilshowers2015 · 20/01/2025 19:49

Another fan here! Took a while of them stalking me on insta to commit but glad I did and 2 friends have now jumped on it as well. I bought the foundation powder in Fair and also bought the recommended brush. The coverage is great, it doesn't sink into my many creases and feels really nice. I wear it on its own during the day and over my Il Makiage (yes they got me too!!) for an evening/glam look.

@princesspadam

They sell Laura Gellar on QVC, so you can buy it, try it, and if it is not right, you can return it within 60 days.

NCfor24 · 20/01/2025 20:24

Another vote for buying from QVC for the returns policy and the sets are great value. I use balance and brighten in fair over concealer on my red cheeks (usually one or two shades up from lightest in other brands, often with 'beige' in the name). It's great and super quick to apply. I also really rate their powder blusher, has a luminous but not shimmery finish and is lovely.
If being super speedy I use the Laura Gellar alone and my cheeks get a couple of extra swooshes, it is buildable and I'll sometimes use a smaller fluffy brush to layer a bit on my darker pigmentation marks before sweeping my whole face.
I'm pretty sure my sister in law also uses it after asking what I use.

shardlakem · 20/01/2025 20:29

I found it went on nicely with the proper brush but went SO orange during the course of the day. Also didn't last at all in warm weather and stuck to dry patches.
