I have never ordered online and returned - if I order and the clothes don't fit, am I right in thinking I parcel them up again with a note inside and there is a self-service kiosk at the store where I return it and then await a refund some days later? I cannot return to the till in store? How long does the refund take if it is done at the kiosk? Many thanks

Depends which store you got it from. They all have different requirements, there are often multi options. You can just take it back to your local store, so no charge. M&S expect you to bring it to the store and use the kiosk yourself, or you can take your parcel to the post office, but you will have to pay. Some firms have multi options, get it collected by the courier, take it to their depot or post office etc. Amazon can issue you with QR code, you take your parcel to the post office and they scan your code. This is the easiest way imo. Make sure you include the returns form inside if they require them. Refunds are usually within days, as soon as they receive the items back.

My local next you take returns to the counter, m&S is a kiosk thing

I returned some stuff to Next last week that I ordered online. If it’s not busy in store they will do it at the till.

There was a self service return kiosk when I went but someone else was using it and the person on the till said they would do it for me. They actually did it for the person trying to use the kiosk too in the end, because the return kiosk didn’t work. I have a Next account and doing it at the till the return showed within half an hour, though I expect that’s different if you paid with a card.

Next easy for returning. Just put it back in the packet in came in, no need for a note. Take it to a till and they will do the refund.

I am pretty sure I bought a bikini batch online, collected and tried in store, then returned at the till. They scan the items and it seems to somehow connect back to you and your order and refunds it.

As PPs said every business has different methods. Usually on the homepage of the website at the bottom there's a link to Refunds and Exchanges and it explains it there. It can also vary between stores with some accepting returns and some not.

If you go to the returns kiosk instore then the items don't need to be packaged. You scan each item individually and then it directs you which door to open to put the item in. It's normally refunded fairly quickly.

dementedpixie · 19/01/2025 15:20

You don't need to package it up to return at the till either in Next. They scan each item in order to refund you.

RedRiverShore5 · 19/01/2025 15:22

I take mine to the counter in both Next and M&S then I don't have to bother packaging them up, no one has ever said anything.

Arrange an Evri collection via the app

You will get the refund a few days later

LadyLolaRuben · 19/01/2025 15:26

I take all my online Next returns back to my local Next store. I always get a refund at the till no problem

InfoSecInTheCity · 19/01/2025 15:28

My local, you go to the self serve return kiosk, scan the barcode on the tag of the item, it finds your order automatically and tells you to put the item in the hatch. By the time you walk out the door there is an email in your inbox saying they've received the return and crediting your account.

PilatesPeach · 19/01/2025 15:30

oh fantastic thanks everyone - I have walked passed and seen the self-returns area so assumed that was how it was done.
