Push up bras for massive boobs

User457788 · 18/01/2025 09:21

Hi all I'm a 36/38 HH and I struggle so much to find a decent bra. I want one that gives me huge lift as they're a bit saggy.

I've lost some weight and I desperately need some new bras. I feel like I've tried on every bra but nothing really fits what I need - they either lift and separate so I have a massive gap in between each boob and look a bit like Trunchball.

Or they give me a nice look and feel secure but don't seem to lift much. Ideas and recommendations welcome thank you!

Bravissimo fitted me for one.

Blarn · 18/01/2025 09:27

Google independent bra fitters near you or go to Bravissimo. I am 32HH and in correctly sized m &s bras I looked lumpy and matronly. With the right style and support recommended by a fitter at Bravissimo I look and feel amazing.

Bravissimo fitted me for one.

I've never had a good experience in bravissimo unfortunately, have spent a fortune there a few times before and never felt anything was quite right. Also got my whole order refunded by them once because all the bras started fraying/wire coming through etc I was so disappointed.

Have you tried a padded bra? Seems a bit counter intuitive but that might give you what you are looking for. You've been unlucky with Bravissimo. I've used them a few times and found them excellent. https://www.bravissimo.com/collections/padded-bras/?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAv628BhC2ARIsAIJIiK_RQL7kN4KwmAL3iJMKsmjvMMYNn6qp3FgldHrEcwkPKzcSpI71RhwaAr7VEALw_wcB

I also think getting a really uplifted look depends on the distance from your shoulders because if you have a long space, like I do (v long neck/torso), there's a limit to how far up a bra can hoist my bust.

Padded Bras for Big Busts | Push Up Bra Support | Bravissimo

Bravissimo offers a collection of padded bras with options for every woman who wears a D+ cup bra - from full cup padded bras to plunge & balconette bra styles.

I'm wondering if you followed the guidance to handwash the bras you mention that frayed/wire came out. I say that because I previously worked for most of my career in lingerie retail and it was the biggest reason for returns, people not following the guidance and chucking delicate items in the washing machine then being annoyed they'd not lasted. Even the delicates setting is sometimes too much for some styles, they're not designed for washing machines especially when you're looking at fuller cup wires unfortunately.

That being said, have you had a look at Curvy Kate? They do a couple of proper push up styles up to J cup that could work for you, again though these would not be for flinging in a washing machine either or the same will likely happen with them.

I’m 32 JJ and wear balconette bras. Love the shape. I’ve never worn anything padded though as looks silly on me - same with plunge bras. Might be worth getting measured again if you’ve lost weight too.

Nchanged89 · 18/01/2025 11:18

Another vote for balconette style bras.

Mumof1andacat · 18/01/2025 11:20

I second a balconet style. I'm I 38h. It's not the push up I need, it's the lift

goodgirlclassicthing · 18/01/2025 11:29

Just for clarity- balcony/balconette refers to the angle of the seam and the way the strap is attached to the cup. Just so you definitely find the style people are meaning, it's possible some may be meaning half cup which is often confused with balconette. If in doubt try both and see which feels best on you.

Half cup:

Balcony/Balconette:

And not to confuse further but some can be both as it does come down to strap placement and seam angle!

https://www.brastop.com/products/curvy-kate-boost-me-up-padded-balcony-bra-black?variant=37255490306228

That last one could be perfect on you if it's boost you're looking for overall! Remember too the back band does 80% of the uplift so as long as your size is right you should already be getting a good uplift.

RampantIvy · 18/01/2025 11:43

If you have lost weight you might find that the band size is too big for you now. Most of the support is in the band size, and a too big band size would result in more sag.

Is your underbust measurement still 38 inches?

zeibesaffron · 18/01/2025 12:43

Have you tried curvy kate or brastop - not measuring services but good bras at a decent price- don’t m and s do up to HH now?

I always use bravissimo and curvy kate for swimwear - bravissimo’s millie bra is superb - I am a JJ / K cup!

SoScarletItWas · 18/01/2025 12:44

Another vote for balcony bras, great shape and lift.

Also the strapless Ultimate Wonderbra is brilliant on bigger boobs, if you’re ever in the market for strapless.

One of the most useful posts I've seen on MN. Thank you.

pinkhimalayan · 18/01/2025 14:41

Bravissimo or Skims.

Plantmumfailure · 18/01/2025 14:55

Freya Deco used to be my favourite but they only go up to GG annoyingly (I'm a 34J)

I also get mine from Brastop

Yeah I do hand-wash- to be honest I never get particularly dirty or sweaty so I just do a quick rinse in some hand wash liquid and hang up to dry. I was just unlikely I bought 3 colours of one bra type that had 'stretchy lace' on it and it all frayed really quickly- they were good about it. I also bought 2 other bras at the same time and both the wires came through quite quickly with those (within a few months) and again they were good and refunded the whole lot. So no complains in terms of customer service or fitting on the day but the products didn't last well for me and none of them really gave me the lift I wanted.

Thanks I have found balcony bras the best in the past so maybe time to go back to that.

Yes the lift thats exactly what I mean and need rather than they just hang off the straps if that makes sense. Any particular ones you could recommend? Thanks

I'll have to check- I'm still slowly losing weight I'm on mounjaro I've lost 1.5 stone so far in 4 months and need to lose another 2-3 stone so I need to bear that in mind I guess but definitely need some new bras in the mean time.

MidnightPatrol · 18/01/2025 15:55

Agree OP that so many bras seem to do this weird separation thing, which gives you the look of a fembot, armed and dangerous.

JessicaPeach · 18/01/2025 15:57

I like this look too, I'm a 34hh/j at the moment.

I like curvy Kate ultra boost, bravissimo satine and curvy Kate super plunge.

The panache Ana isn't bad either.

Last time I went to bravissimo and moaned about everything she showed me she said that the look I like most people only like for 'special occasions' not every day so there isn't much choice in the bigger sizes.

NoCarbsForMe · 18/01/2025 16:00

I love these brands op...

Fantasie
Triumph
Freya

NoCarbsForMe · 18/01/2025 16:00

I don't rate bravissimo either.
