Tinted moisturiser

I've always worn make up daily if I'm not staying in, including foundation. A few years ago I was finding it starting to look a bit heavy so switched to a more dewy finish, I've tried no7 illuminate and currently wearing Clinique even better glow. I'm 57 and have 'good' (genetically lucky) skin with few lines but I'm finding foundation makes the lines I have much more obvious, they're hardly visible without it on but I notice at work in the mirror I can see the lines on my 11s and marionette lined quite clearly where my make up is. Does anyone have any suggestions for something that still gives colour and evens out tone but doesn't accentuate lines? I have a very simple skincare routine of cleanse, water then moisturise which I'm happy with, and I'm definitely not having Botox or filler. Thanks

Laura Mercier was a game changer for me. I'm 66 and it just makes me look like a no make up better version of me.

I use the Nars one for work, which just gives me enough coverage to even things out a bit. It’s light and easy but I’m not convinced it lasts all day. There are loads of shades, so you should be able to get a good match.

Garnier Glow. It’s an SPF with a tint. Factor 50 and usually around £8 in boots or Superdrug. If I want a bit more coverage I add foundation to it but it’s good for day to day.

I found the Garnier one too orange for my skin tone. I had the Laura Mercier one colour matched exactly for my pale skin.

Wow, such quick replies, this must be a common thing as we get older, thanks everyone I'll look at the suggestions in detail. I'm going shopping later this week so will have an opportunity to look at the shades too

I use Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising BB-
Gel, it gives me a glow and happy to wear nothing else although I sometimes add a little powder when in the office.

RampantIvy · 18/01/2025 09:02

I have reached the stage where powder ages me now, so I just stick to tinted moisturiser.

alloutofcareunits · 18/01/2025 09:05

@RampantIvy yes anything powdery adds another 10 years!

@AM130674 that's interesting, I use the ordinary DDM so maybe the tinted one will suit me.

Revolution super dewy. Easy application, no need for primer. Inexpensive. As it's a high street brand, you can just go to your local superdrug or boots and test it yourself there. Bring your own mirror and be prepared to blend shades.

There are probably even better ones, the Lisa Eldridge skin tint has a lot of fans here, but they do not accept returns and I think a lot of the companies have a no-returns policy. It's also difficult to get samples and I hate to waste money on a product if the colour is wrong.

If anyone has any recommendations of skin tints where you can buy samples, I'd be really interested.

I use this and love it https://www.boots.com/no7-hydraluminous-aquarelease-skin-perfector-10288699 moved from foundation to this as it feels and looks much nicer I think. I have the foundation in this range and if I feel I do need a bit more coverage I'll use a little dab on top of the tinted moisturiser. I use a little sweep of Laura Mercier translucent powder just over my eye/cheek area as I use cream bronzer/blush as and eyeshadow and I find this helps it last all day but I definitely use less powder and coverage than I used to now I'm in perimenopause! HRT has really helped the texture of my skin, too!

So you guys tend not to wear any powder over the top? I have Mavalia (which says it's 'BB cream Moisturising Tinted Cream') but think I'm a bit shiny especially over my brow if I don't.

@CinnamonJellyBeans if you are able to go into town and visit a store with a beauty department I highly recommend that you ask the staff to try some of the more premium brands where they have a wide range of shades and will colour match you more precisely than the cheaper brands where you get just two or three shades that turn you into an oompa loompa (I'm looking at you Garnier).

Erborian is awesome. The CC cream. Th BB cream is good too but thicker and more foundation-like. The IT Cosmetics My skin but better tinted moisturiser is good too.

this is a game changer for me. The bare minerals website has a colour match I think.

Maybelline fit me dewy and smooth is good for every day and has loads of good natural looking colours . Its only aroung £10 . I find that better than some of the really expensive ones.

DD uses the fit me foundation: It's great stuff.

I use concealer and hourglass radiant light, over spf. I can’t do whole face coverage now I’m over 60, it looks ott to me.

user22446688 · 19/01/2025 12:25

I mix a couple of drops of foundation into spf (I love Ultra Violette Supreme Screen). Sheer and glowy but evens out skin tone.

If you have a foundation colour you're happy with, give that a try.

MonkeyTennis34 · 19/01/2025 18:03

Lisa Eldridge Skin Tint.

Origins ...can't remember the name but it goes on like a moisturiser but when you rub it in, it turns a very skin colour. This is what I use on a no make up day.
