Dyson airwrap - question from DD

Twoshoesnewshoes · 16/01/2025 18:52

DD has thick, naturally ringlet curl long hair.
she currently washes then blow dries , then uses straighteners to put in wide waves.
her question is - is an airwrap strong enough to keep her natural curls at bay for a few days and keep the smoothness in, which her straightener method does?
and can anyone recommend a cheaper version?
hope that makes sense!
thanks x

I’ve been debating an air wrap for ages and I have the same style hair as your daughter. I’ve done a lot of research (ie watching TikTok videos mainly) and even went into the Dyson store where they styled a few strands. Before I left the store the curls had dropped. So I think it’s a know for the air wrap

however, I have recently come across the air straight for simultaneously blow drying and straightening your hair without hot plates. this is a very likely upcoming purchase for me. At the moment after washing I rough dry my hair, then blow it dry, then straighten then curl. This cuts out at least 2 of those steps and is less damaging!

I don't have the same hair type - but I really doubt that she would find the air wrap strong enough to keep the type of style she wants.

I have naturally wavy hair, I blow dry with a round brush straight, but not super smooth - then use the air wrap with some mousse etc and put my hair in pin curls & what I'm left with is bouncy soft curls... fairly ill defined.
I love the air wrap, but it's not a curling wand.

That’s so helpful, thank you ! I’ll suggest the air straight then.

Also DD has clarified, she doesn’t mind the waves dropping out, what she doesn’t want is her natural curls coming through.
