Are cord trousers even remotely stylish?

Having lost a lot of weight, I’m trying to update my trouser and jean wardrobe.
Clearly wide leg trousers and jeans are still very much in but they don’t look good on me - more like baggy clown’s trousers, making me look much bigger than I am. So I’m going for slim/ slim straight shapes.
In jeans, I’ve found a couple of styles which seem to suit me (NYDJ slim and M and S Lily Slim Magic). For very casual everyday wear, I like Boden’s Harem joggers because they’re very slim at the ankles. But still seems to be a gap in my wardrobe. Suggestions welcome, please.
In particular, have been looking at cord trousers which I haven’t worn for years. But am wondering if there’s a good reason for this and if they inevitably look ‘frumpy’ and/ or rural (nothing wrong with that, but not my style). What do others think?

I think straight legged needle cords are probably dated but wide legged or barrel leg cords are ok.

They seem to be around at the moment.

I bought some slightly tentatively recently - burgundy cords. They are very comfortable, but I'm slightly uneasy about whether they actually make me look reasonably good.

I suspect not.

I'm busy wearing my baggy barrel leg cords (few years ago Toast) and, whilst I undeniably look like a weeble, and, it is true, once was catcalled that I looked like an oompa loompa in them, I am rocking my best self.
