antigona bag

Recently came across a bag called the antigona bag on Mumsnet and i hadnt heard of it before. i was thinking what category it falls into? is it more like a mulberry bag or a Michael kors bag or a Louis Vuitton bag? kind of like how if someone had a mulberry bag they aren't the kind of person who might be into a Michael kors bag?

The original larger size of this was super popular maybe ten years ago? Though not the initial vanguard, it was definitely a bag frequently seen on the Kardashians and WAG types but also on more classic preppy style celebs like January Jones and Reese Witherspoon. I guess Givenchy was handing out PR in bulk.

I'm not sure they're as well made as they used to be, the original really had a lot of presence that read expensive to the untrained eye from the leather and chromed out zipper without being overly flashy, but you were definitely advertising you paid a lot for a bag (and that you probably had a personal trainer as the thing weighed a tonne). The newer ones I've seen don't seem to be made as high spec as they used to, leather is shiny rather than lustrous, more emphasis on logo, etc. So what person exactly is a Givenchy Antigona buyer, not sure, Givenchy as a brand has been a bit rudderless for years so it's lost its identity. But as this is an OG style which once had a cult following, basically someone who likes designer bags and doesn't cry out in pearl clutching horror at the thought of visible logos.

Are you asking whether it’s a high end designer bag, vs mid range? I don’t really follow. Or did you think Antigona was the name of the designer? Easy mistake to make!

Thank you, that's so helpful! I really like the big sized one that you mentioned but seems like it's only available in the black and I was hoping for another colour and can't seem to find a different colour anywhere!
The smaller sizes look like they can only be held on the arm or in your hand. I do think they shape and brown colour is so pretty though. I hope it looks as lustrous in person as it does in the photo. It's such a shame if the quality has gone down though

Sorry i wasn't very clear. I wasn't asking about priceyness of it but what kind of person would carry it. Like @botemp said, it was seen on kardashians, WAGs and preppy types.

I have this bag in large sized pale pink bought in roughly 2017 back when it was super popular! I enjoyed it at the time but the main downfall is it is extremely heavy even when empty. I've tried to sell a few times over the years but its value has gone down massively

I am tempted to get it in the small because it's the biggest size available in a non-black colour but I feel like it's not quite the look the bag is famous for.
