I was running some errands in central London yesterday evening, and the weather was Baltic, so I popped on my most appropriate warm grippy supportive shoes: elderly but excellent nubuck hiking shoes with a fair amount of mud.
On a whim I popped into a shoe shop to try on some ankle boots to replace a dead pair, and suddenly became aware that excellent elderly hiking shoes are not very SW1-appropriate.
Has anyone seen (ideally in the sales) any warm, grippy, supportive slightly smart leather shoes: suitable for walking a few miles over city streets? I can't get on with Doc Martens, and the trainers I'd wear from April to November are too cold.
These are the ankle boots btw (in black). Almost right, and with a warm lining but I didn't get them on the grounds that the buckle detail was a bit frumpy. What do you think? Any recommendations for Chelsea boots with good soles suitable for PF sufferer gratefully recieved.
