Twice a year
I have slow growing fine hair tho

I have blonde put through to blend out my greys
you can have baby lights, parting or full / half head dependent on what you need and price will change accordingly

AQuickDeathInTexas · 09/01/2025 15:01

I get mine done every twelve weeks

catin8oots · 09/01/2025 15:11

I go three times a year. If money was no object I'd go four times.

DominoRules · 09/01/2025 15:12

I go twice a year but my hair is pretty blonde naturally so the change is quite subtle and roots don’t show much

JennyTals · 09/01/2025 17:03

Ok thanks so much for info
suppose if you don’t like the up keep you can always have to dyed over/toned

I go every 9-10 weeks. Fast growing hair and roots show quickly!

hattie43 · 09/01/2025 17:14

Every two months and alternate between full head and root tint so highlights every 4 months

LocationChange · 09/01/2025 17:46

My hair grows down to my jaw. I have my hair cut every month, and I get away with this sequence of treatments:

highlights
no colour
single tone roots & fringe
no colour
highlights
etc

So I get an colour treatment every nine weeks be it a single base tone or highlights redone.

Dancetildawn · 09/01/2025 17:52

2-3 times a year-I have naturally dark hair going grey but not nearly enough to actually go grey.

My very talented hairdresser has done grey blending which lasts for ages-the last time I went for highlights she actually said don't bother-a good wash, treatment & blow dry will give a refresh which it did.

sweetpickle2 · 09/01/2025 18:11

Twice a year, but get my roots darkened in between- I have a sort of balayage type look (without it being actual balayage) but my hairdresser is very good at blending.

TomatoSandwiches · 09/01/2025 18:15

I get highlights, colour, toner and cut every 9-12 weeks.

SomethingDifferentBloomed · 09/01/2025 18:26

I’m naturally brunette. I used to get a half head every 3 months, and couldn’t have gone longer really, it used to look pretty ropey after about 2.5 months. Now I get balayage and can go 6 months, but obviously it’s a different look.

JennyTals · 12/01/2025 14:29

Oh yeah balayage might be a good way to start, thanks for the range in replies at least it’s not something that needs doing every 6 weeks

It depends on what your base colour is and what shade of highlights you’re looking for and the over all colour your hoping to achieve, for me it also comes down to the length of your hair and whether you have greys coming on and also whether you have a natural base colour of if that’ll need coloured too. What are you thinking OP? X

JennyTals · 12/01/2025 14:34

Natural colour is a dark blonde/light brown

OP posts:
lightsandtunnels · 12/01/2025 14:34

Every 8 - 10 weeks, root touch up and a few highlights and/or face framing depending on season. My hair is now pretty grey (I think!) so I need regular touch ups.

Ivyy · 12/01/2025 14:54

You could always try just a t section / parting of very fine highlights op as a bit of a test, with dark blonde to light brown hair they'll grow out looking very natural if you decide they're not for you. You could then get some lowlights of your natural colour run through the parting to break up any roots as they grow out.

I have just below the shoulder length very fine hair, light to medium ash brown in colour and my hairdresser uses a high lift tint rather than bleach. I really damaged my hair when I was younger with bleach highlights and trying to go really blonde.

I only get a t section now rather than half a head like I used to, my hair is so fine and it looks more natural plus it's less upkeep and money. I get them done every 3-4 months
