Aging is rubbish and I hate these lines on my face, would like to go for botox or fillers, but not sure what?
Any ideas what I need, prices and how often top ups?

Botox or fillers? Help please

Fillers will make a difference. Some inject the cheeks rather than the lines themselves, in order to give a lifting effect to the jowls.

AsFunAsEnglishWeather · 09/01/2025 15:44

Definitely fillers in the cheek, and possibly a thread lift.

Bignanna · 09/01/2025 18:53

Microneedling may help

MabelMoo23 · 09/01/2025 18:59

You need fillers. Fillers act as scaffolding for the face

itsstillmehere · 10/01/2025 00:37

You can get fillers to help with these lines. You need to find a doctor who can advise you on the best way. Filler for that area is usually about 250 and I find it lasts about 12-18 months.

WeeWigglet · 10/01/2025 00:40

Fillers will lift the skin
Also worth looking at Hifu which tightens it all up a bit.

HIFU is expensive ad the results are disappointing and don’t last long, imo. Probably better to save for a facelift!

CharlotteCChapel · 10/01/2025 18:34

I can't believe people are still recommending fillers after all the publicity regarding them staying in the body and migrating.

To me your skin looks dry. Something plumping and moisuring would work. Tretinoin may be worth a go.

MyJaneNoGreatBeauty · 10/01/2025 19:14

Face lift, avoid fillers like the plague.

Agreed. Fillers are dreadful. A deep plane face lift is the best but most expensive option.

Make sure whoever you go to is registered and insured.

I agree, but as I and I bet many others can’t afford this, what’s the alternative?

Mountainormolehills · 10/01/2025 19:30

I have fillers in this area, a tiny amount which lasts really well on me. I will get a face lift eventually but not yet.
Use a trusted professional, be aware of the side effects and make your own choice

Doggymummar · 10/01/2025 19:34

I think fillers can be really helpful, but you do need to choose your practice carefully. I use a plastic surgeon from my local hospital who works one Sunday a month in my local Bupa dental clinic. I feel confident with him. To answer you questions those areas would cost me 300.00 over two sessions and I had them done just before COVID and topped up in November 2024. I also had tears troughs in that price. Your lines might be deeper or you might need a different type of filler, so you would need a consultation to get an accurate price. He suggested a thread facelift but I would have not been able to afford it as he would bring in my regular dentist to do the anaesthesia and a nurse on hand incase of issues.

The alternative is to appreciate getting older and understanding that comes with some lines and wrinkles

Mmmm- there must be something else!

It really is the easiest option. And free. And acceptance allows for far more happiness than worrying about trivial things like a couple of lines.

I've started noticing a few on me in Teams calls now and again. I find them interesting.

If it were only a couple of lines it would be bearable, but it isn’t- it’s sagging, turkey neck, double chin and jowls, which are hard to accept, being so obvious. There’s a vast range of non surgical procedures around, but they’re expensive, often show very little difference after a long course of treatment. It’s hard to know which to choose as they’re so hyped up, and even if you have a consultation they make it clear that results can vary hugely so you may not notice anything! It’s a lot of money and disappointing if there isn’t any discernible improvement, and you don’t get any money back or discount on other treatments if there aren’t noticeable improvements. For myself , I have a tiny amount of filler to marionette lines once a year, have an LED mask and use Tretinoin. I don’t expect miracles!

ShadowsOfTheDays · 10/01/2025 20:13

I got filler in my marionette lines a few months ago - they were getting quite deep and seemed weirdly aging compared to the rest of my face.

It was really pain free, and it looks much better; they're still there so it doesn't look different to the untrained eye, but the skin has lifted a bit so there's a slight plumpness instead of a deepening groove.

Cost something like £240 and will apparently last about a year. Go for it!

Bignanna · 10/01/2025 20:30

OP - Just try a little filler- if you don’t like it you don’t have to have it again, but I’m pretty sure you will like the result. It’s only people who overdo over a long period of time who end up looking like overstuffed pillowcases! Let us know how you get on!

RamsayBoltonsConscience · 10/01/2025 20:45

Ive been watching a nurse on TikTok who recommended lower face Botox for marionette lines and to tighten up the jaw.

Letstheriveranswer · 10/01/2025 20:52

Fillers....see pic for a natural look. Have lasted two years.

Make sure you see someone very good though.

Meh. I'm pretty sure I have all of that too. Don't really know what turkey neck means. My whole face is definitely softer and floppier all over. Still don't get why that's meant to be embarrassing.

Not so much embarrassing as depressing!

pandapopadance · 10/01/2025 20:57

Look at bio filler, it's more natural. As someone mentioned before, to lift the face, filler tends to be placed in the temples (which hollow out with age) and cheeks rather than to the lower face which can cause heaviness.
