Botox or fillers? Help please

Punsandroses · 09/01/2025 14:41

Aging is rubbish and I hate these lines on my face, would like to go for botox or fillers, but not sure what?
Any ideas what I need, prices and how often top ups?

Botox or fillers? Help please

Look at bio filler, it's more natural. As someone mentioned before, to lift the face, filler tends to be placed in the temples (which hollow out with age) and cheeks rather than to the lower face which can cause heaviness.

Sounds good, but it’s more expensive and doesn’t last as long

Not so much embarrassing as depressing!

I don't get that either. Still think the best way for anyone to deal long-term with this perceived problen is relaxing and accepting it. That's a permanent cure.

Wish I could share your view, but ageing gracefully is an oxymoron me!

Fillers....see pic for a natural look. Have lasted two years.

Make sure you see someone very good though.

Is this filler or botox?

pandapopadance · 10/01/2025 21:07

@Bignanna it doesn't 'fill' for as long but has a collagen boosting effect for longer term results and is more easily tolerated. It disperses naturally whereas other fillers can last years later and migrate often making sagging look worse.
Obviously it's individual choice with pros and cons to both.
Long term a face lift is best, even cost wise.

I agree, but as I and I bet many others can’t afford this, what’s the alternative?

I agree that OP's solution is a facelift. Only a facelift can improve skin laxity.

The alternative if you cannot afford a facelift is to smile. Nature's natural facelift.

It really is the easiest option. And free. And acceptance allows for far more happiness than worrying about trivial things like a couple of lines.

I've started noticing a few on me in Teams calls now and again. I find them interesting.

There's a soft focus function on teams if you wanted to use it

No need. I'm quite happy with what I see

The alternative is to appreciate getting older and understanding that comes with some lines and wrinkles

Agreed.

ShadowsOfTheDays · 10/01/2025 22:57

The alternative is also not to join a thread specifically asking 'Botox or fillers' and say the answer is a secret third option to magically not care about the thing that's bothering you.

Is this filler or botox?

Mainly fillers - around the triangle from nose to mouth down to jaw. I forget how much but think it was about 4ml of regular filler such as juvederm.

Botox into the chin to relax the muscles that were creating chin wrinkles /pitting.
The pic below (excuse the chin spot!) is two years later, it needs topping up but has lasted really well, it's still better than before I had them. How long it lasts does vary from person to person...I was told to expect up to 18 months.

I went back on HRT around the same time too, as it's loss of oestrogen that leads to the loss of collagen. Not sure if that has helped it last but that's the only other potential factor.

The person I go to works in Harley St, Sevenoaks, Richmond and Huntingdon - if you are near any of those you can pm me and I'll give you the details.

@Letstheriveranswer thanks for explaining. It is skilled work. The effect is subtle. Nice to see a good result for fillers & botox for the mouth and chin.

My problem is jowls. I miss my jawline.

A lot of us need facelifts but for a deep plane facelift the price is too much. Hence all the questions about non surgical treatments which often turn out to be a lot of money for no discernible difference, apart from expertly done filler, which, once started needs maintenance.

MyJaneNoGreatBeauty · 11/01/2025 16:48

I think if you can't afford it nit even with payment plan then learn to accept it because filling saggy skin with material that then swells up snd gets lumpy widening and increasing the size of the face isn't youthful, it still looks our age plus desperate. It is the budget look to go for fillers when you're too poor for a lift. At least if you leave alone you seem like you aren't vain and ageing naturally out of principles.

InkHeart2024 · 11/01/2025 16:53

Fillers cannot lift your face once it's fallen. Even wealthy celebrities like Demi Moore, Courtney Cox and Madonna who can presumably afford the best aestheticians get crazy pillow face from trying to fix something that can't be fixed. A facelift is the only thing that will lift the face once it's dropped. I would never put fillers in my face, it's a disaster.

FatFiatMultiplaWhopper · 11/01/2025 16:59

MabelMoo23 · 09/01/2025 18:59

You need fillers. Fillers act as scaffolding for the face

No one "needs" fillers!

FatFiatMultiplaWhopper · 11/01/2025 17:01

Bubblebuttress · 11/01/2025 14:00

Another one - "need"?!

blueshoes · 11/01/2025 17:21

Latest evidence is that fillers hang around for far longer than expected and cause scarring, which makes a face lift, if you do decide to go for one later, more difficult. I believe that face lifts work best on 'virgin' faces.

"The ‘invisible’ facelift that’s better than fillers": https://archive.is/GBonZ

Just to note that the cosmetic surgeons mentioned in the article are top end and their prices reflect it. I am hoping that with research and depending on the treatment needed, it is possible to get a good result from a more reasonably priced UK surgeon whom I am not paying for their fancy website and marketing.

MabelMoo23 · 11/01/2025 19:59

FatFiatMultiplaWhopper · 11/01/2025 16:59

No one "needs" fillers!

Actually I was answering the specific question - the poster asked if you would have Botox or fillers for the part of the face. It would be fillers for that part of the face as opposed to Botox. I literally answered the question, of course no one NEEDS it. But the question was would it be Botox or fillers. I answered the question, so don’t get shirty at me.

ShadowsOfTheDays · 11/01/2025 20:07

These questions always attract the moralisers.

I've yet to see someone ask 'do you prefer this dress in red or blue' and someone respond 'why do you care, just go into a charity shop wearing a blindfold and pick any item of clothing. If you were more confident you wouldn't care about the colour of your dress. Wearing clothes is a privilege. Get therapy. Oh, and smiling helps.'

Gives me the absolute rage.

Deep plane face lift is really the only thing that will give you natural and satisfactory results.

The amount of filler you need to lift will leave you looking weird
