HELP! I need a winter races dress

princesspadam · 07/01/2025 21:56

I've trawled through ASOS but can't see anything I really like

Please can anyone suggest a nice dress for the races or websites to check out?

To wear with knee high black boots
Midi / midaxi
Black or dark colour
Preferably doesn't require a coat

TIA 😌

Which racecourse? There's a huge difference between them in levels of how dressy

TriangleLight · 07/01/2025 22:06

Dear god no to that nobody’s child dress.

Really no coat? Im going racing and planning brown leather shirt skirt, fleeced lined tights; thin layers on top and furry jacket. Hat and nice boots

Bey · 07/01/2025 22:08

It's an absolutely beautiful dress in person and looks better on people in the real world than it does that beautiful model.

TriangleLight · 07/01/2025 22:08

River Island has lots of jumper dresses that would work

@Bey I would look like a bag of shite in that dress

I like that river island dress but worry it may be too casual?

It's Ascot
I don't really want to do a hat

The racecourse will usually have dress code suggestion on their website, so might see if your idea match? Will you not freeze without a coat? ( I'm the coldest person always!)

TriangleLight · 07/01/2025 22:19

I'm wearing a hat and coat as I’ll be outside.

I think that dress is smart enough for winter racing, with nice boots and a belt. There are lots of other nice jumper dresses in there. Or a leather pencil skirt and fine knit jumper? With layers under it?

TriangleLight · 07/01/2025 22:19

But really you’ll need a coat??

TriangleLight · 07/01/2025 22:23

Here’s an idea oops forgot pic

OopsieeDaisy · 07/01/2025 22:23

Have you tried Silkfred? They have some lovely midi dresses!

princesspadam · 07/01/2025 22:24

It's a corporate do so mostly inside I hope

It's honestly such a lovely dress and really flattering 🤣 I know why people aren't seeing it from their pics on there, but I promise in person how nice it is and how perfect it would be as it's warm too! But I'll bow out 🤣

TriangleLight · 07/01/2025 22:27

You’re welcome! Enjoy! I’m just planning my own winter racing outfit 😀

Patienceinshortsupply · 07/01/2025 22:34

Look on Holland Cooper - that's pretty much the dress code for Cheltenham races.

With thick wool tights, knee high boots?

I like it @Bey ! Classy and flattering

DancingNotDrowning · 07/01/2025 23:23

The nobody’s child dress is ok but it’s not a winter ascot dress.

Even doing corporate you’ll need a decent coat and hat - I have a burgundy fedora which I wear with a pheasant hat clip.

Tailoring, tweeds, fine knits, layers and knee length boots in muted tones are all safe options.

Nobody's child midi dress

i think this would fit what you're looking for they have it in navy and burgundy too

It's a lovely dress but you can't wear it outdoors in winter without a coat. It's also a normal day dress so probably not dressy enough for this.
