Cheap LED masks

Are they any good?
I really want a mask that does blue light as I suffer from oily skin and break outs but I just can't justify the price. Researching them, there's ones around £40 but I won't how they can work as well as ones at £300? Does anyone have any experience using a cheaper one?

Well light is light. So as long as the mask is emitting what it says it does then a mask that does blue light should work.
Which brands are you thinking of?

With the blue light you need the wavelength range of 407- to 420-nm for anti acne use. The first doesn't seem to specify wavelengths but the second specifies the blue being at 470 so probably isn't of use for your purpose.

Plump82 · 05/01/2025 13:36

That's good to know re wavelengths. I'll do some more research and see what comes up..

I'd be interested in knowing too as I've been intrigued by them although I want it for helping with aging skin and not acne.
Sometimes more expensive is definitely better but sometimes not so I don't know whether to bite the bullet and get a cheaper one or not as I can't afford £££

I assume to technically get a very specific wavelength consistently throughout the product's lifetime probably results in a more expensive product.

Personally, I have my reservations for the use of LED masks for anti ageing, especially if you use tretinoin as you potentially open yourself up to pigmentation for not tremendous gain. For acne blue LED has a better body of evidence and track record so it might be worth it for some.

In terms of anti aging I notice a big different in my skin when using my currentbody mask. I have the mask and the neck/decolletage mask. I got lazy using it over the summer but have started again recently and noticed a difference in skin brightness/firmess and fine lines in the first few sessions.
