What would you buy if you had £110 to spend in JL today?

I am very lucky and have £110 to spend in John Lewis vouchers. I could save them until I need something, but I’ve already been saving them since the summer. I need a January pick me up so thought I’d ask for inspiration!

The style I lean towards is very neutral colours, creams, browns. I like to wear wide leg trousers with nice cardigans and jumpers for work. I wear chelsea boots, adidas spezials or Birkenstocks on my feet (depending on task!) but I feel I may be a bit dated there, I’m a creature of habit.

I like make up and fragrance but usually have drugstore budget so I’m not overly familiar with the higher end brands. If I was getting make up I’d like something with good staying power that I’d use everyday. Such as a good brow pencil or a nice tinted lip oil.

I often wonder about the Sol de Janeiro body mists, are these nice?

I don’t need a bag at the moment, but if there are any accessory ideas I’d love to hear them! A nice water bottle or note book?! No candles, I got enough of those for Xmas 😂

Basically looking for something stylish that’s a treat I can use often, something to make me feel happy during the rest of these cold dark months!

Following with interest as I have exactly the same (very nice) problem 🙂

I’d also like a magic cream that firms my face, lifts my skin and gets rid of undereye bags and dark circles…. But fear what I need there is plastic surgery 😂

How about a perfume? Our local JL does some nice fragrances and a pretty wide range. I bought myself a bottle for a big birthday recently and had a lovely time picking out something I found delicious. I wear it almost every day and it still makes me smile.

Trumpetoftheswan2 · 04/01/2025 09:53

Just on the magic cream... I got a small tub of Charlotte Tilbury's Magic Cream with a JL voucher. It's okay, but not £25 quid okay was my verdict. I have gone back to Lidl. I also got a CT eyeliner and mascara with the voucher, which have lasted ages and I will get again (when I get another voucher!).

What about a cashmere sweater or cardigan. There may be some in the sale.

Theremedy · 04/01/2025 10:02

I’m always sceptical of creams, I’ve never found one that works differently to my usual Superdrug brightening cream. If I did spend £50 plus on one and it was a miracle cream, I couldn’t afford to buy it again 😂

I like the idea of a fragrance and will definitely have some fun seeing if one stands out to me, does anyone have any recommendations for ones that will last all day?

Today I’d go for perfume. I’m running low and didn’t get any for Christmas, And it’s so much more expensive than it was just a few years ago, so a gift purchase would be most welcome!

DelphiniumBlue · 04/01/2025 10:06

If they still have cashmere jumpers left, go for those. I got one a couple of days ago marked down to £69 and reduced to £49 at the till. You could get 2!

Theremedy · 04/01/2025 10:17

I have always wanted a cashmere crew neck jumper, the most I’ve been able to afford is gloves!

I'd buy this but £1.30 over budget 😁

Our JL has a Jo Malone counter with dozens of fragrance testers. I had a lovely time choosing my favourite when I was treated.

Theremedy · 04/01/2025 14:54

Well I ended up with a Benefit ‘Mighty Fine Brow Pen’ the lady at the counter did my brows with it and they look spectacular so I hope I can replicate at home!

I couldn’t believe the price of fragrance these days… eye watering, even with a gift card.

That used £26 so I have left overs to try again another day!

A cashmere jumper.
I got my first one this Christmas and I love it!
Soooo soft.

lindyloo57 · 04/01/2025 15:57

cashmere jumper I've just ordered a beige one.

getthosetitsup · 04/01/2025 22:13

I had exactly this amount recently! I treated myself to a Radley handbag in the sale (and topped up the last £30 myself).

oh is heard good things about the CT magic cream. I thought it costs more than that though

Moon30 · 20/11/2025 23:15

I would like to think that I would treat myself but I'd probably just buy something for the house, like towels lol

Trumpetoftheswan2 · 20/11/2025 23:17

The £25 tub is very small! You do only need a little though.

On the make-up front, I got some Bobbi Brown eye liner in a little jar. Apply with a brush. Stays on and doesn't have the pencil breaking problem.

PaisleyGilmourStreet · 20/11/2025 23:28

I'd get some Liz Earle stuff. My favourite skin care indulge is Strivectin, but I don't think JL do it.

sequinpanties · 21/11/2025 00:14

A cashmere.

Sunshineandgrapefruit · 21/11/2025 00:15

A statement piece. Lovely jumper or put it towards a great coat.

JMAngel1 · 21/11/2025 08:46

I know this is an old thread but Aromatherapy Associates Bath Oil in Deep and a Nuxe oil gift set. If spare money over, the Clinique lip set in Black and Pink Honey
