Foundation just no longer sits well on me. Im 44, combination skin and im finding it just sits on my skin, separates or looks cakey, goes into my fine lines particularly under my eyes and just doesnt work for me any longer.

I usually wear Estee Lauder Double Wear as I prefer the full coverage or sometimes L'Oréal True Match but neither seem to suit me. I also have L'Oréal Paris CC cream which I like but doesn't last all day on me even when I use Elf power grip primer. I sometimes use Elf Halo Glow under my foundation but I'm not sure if it makes any difference.

I went to Boots today but was overwhelmed and didn't really know what I was looking for.

I was thinking a mineral foundation may be better on my mature skin but can you get full coverage from a powder foundation? Not looking to spend too much but I'm aware I may need a few products.

Can anyone with experience of this please recommend products from primer to foundation or equivalent for my skin type? I have fair skin, neutral undertones with some redness and also dark age spots hence looking for full coverage.

Thank you all

What's your skincare routine like? Do you exfoliate regularly? I would firstly make sure your skin is in tip top condition, because it may not just be that the foundation you're using doesn't suit your skin any more.

I like Pat McGrath's Skin Fetish foundation & the same brand's primer. Otherwise Armani Luminous Silk.

I use the whole Elf family, from about your age I felt less is more for me and stopped full coverage.

Clinique even better

Its the one I always come back to

Charlotte Tilbury has the best foundations I've ever used. For medium coverage go for the 'Beautiful Skin' or for full coverage try 'Airbrush Flawless'.

Thank you for the suggestions, I'll take a note of all these

I find mixing Double Wear with some serum or moisturiser helps

Also like EL Futurist Skin Tint, which has good coverage.

I don't like the full coverage Futurist (way too thick and shiny).

If you used to like DW, maybe try Futurist - it’s lighter and a bit more glowy, but still decent cover.
