Inherited fur coat

Help! We have ended up with a dead great aunties long fur coat - ancient, no idea what fur it is.

Don’t want it, would t ever wear fur a but equally if we can get some cash for it would sell it.

any ideas of best way forward? Am fully aware of fur controversy, would certainly never buy it myself but to just chuck it seems wasteful?

Had the same conundrum around late MIL's mink coat. Unless the fur is in pristine condition furriers won't buy it and an advert on EBay didn't get any takers. Amateur dramatic groups won't take them any more, but a colleague who does Agatha Christie type murder mysteries took it off my hands for a charity donation

I inherited a kangaroo fur coat and took it to the charity shop. The person behind till was very excited and I said take it it’s yours.

There is a market in second hand fur but only for the absolutely best stuff- perfect condition etc.

You can donate it. PETA accept donations which they use in their anti fur campaigns, for animal bedding and for the homeless.

My Mum got hers turned into two teddies ( one for each of the sisters) I have her one now. While I don’t agree with the fur trade at all, dumping it seemed wrong too so I have it in my room.

Thanks all. Might see if can get an online appraisal. Then, if it’s as I suspect, too ancient and unloved to be of a resale value, I am loving the idea of some dog shelter pooches snuggling up to it for some comfort. My dogs would probably just eat it 😂
