Party tonight, need advice

Hello MN stylists. I need your advice.

New year's eve party tonight, with "dress up" guidance given.

Just merrily tried on all the dresses I'd been considering, and it turns out I've put on weight and can't fit into them. No time (or money) to shop today.
The only thing I have which is not old and scraggy and which fits me is a nice denim jumpsuit/boilersuit. Dark blue denim, actually kind of smart. Can I wear this to a "dress up" NYE party, or is that disrespectful to the (lovely) party thrower? I don't have any dress-up shoes which would go with it, so would have to wear trainers or black boots. Is this bad??

Why did I not try my dresses on sooner?!

TIA

Of course you can, I'm sure there isn't a dress code on the door. Depending on length/style my eye is twitching slightly about the boots, but try both on with it and see what looks best. Find accessories to bling it up a bit of needed.

Thank you so much. Are converse (I will clean them!) better than black boots?!

Do you have proper smart shoes op? Converse no, you are already making do on the outfit, dress it up not casual

Only work shoes - rubbish brogues - or DM-type black boots. Argh.

Thank you for the response, by the way - really appreciate it!
