What perfume?

I need (want) a new perfume. I’ve currently got a few on the go but want something different. I wear perfume every single day and feel naked without it.

Currently have:

Chanel Coco Noir-prob my current fave

Coco Mademoiselle-this is my comfort perfume, always cheers me up

Dior Addict-this is my going out perfume and has been for years

Narciso Rodriguez-I wear this day to day but do love it

Hermes Eau De Merveilles-love this one as well

I want something long lasting, and smells “expensive”. I’ve just sprayed Juliette Has a Gun Not a Perfume, it smelt nice when I first sprayed it and now an hour later and I can barely smell it!

Im open to any suggestions and will be going to a large city centre on Saturday so can try a couple out then. Happy to spend up to £150 and just looking for something new to me, I think I’ve tried all the main stream brands.

Do you like anything by Tom Ford?

NewYorkherewecome · 30/12/2024 17:40

I have a few of the ones you’ve listed and bought Solaris which is from Penhaligons. It was quite expensive but more importantly smells nice and does last

AgnesX · 30/12/2024 17:40

Dior Lucky, although you don't get much for your £150.

snazzybouquet · 30/12/2024 17:46

My current favourite is Steamed Rainbow by DS& Durga. I absolutely love it but it's quite divisive. SpaceNK stock it if you want a 'sniff' but think it's on sale at Liberty currently.
Also love the Acne Studios for Frederic Malle - really beautiful scent.

haribonoyoudont · 30/12/2024 17:49

'L'Air du Temps' by Nina Ricci is gorgeous. very elegant and (IMO) very expensive-smelling.

Purplecatshopaholic · 30/12/2024 17:49

Faves of mine:
Frederick Malle - Portrait of a Lady, or Carnal Flower.
Tom Ford - Black Orchid or Velvet Orchid.
Or something by Kayali?

chillycat · 30/12/2024 17:52

I like the same ones generally as you.
I also like Portrait of a Lady and I've recently tried samples of VB the blue one (Portofino?) which is v. nice!

I haven't smelled this for years but I swear I can smell it through the screen just by reading your post! Beautiful scent.

Lancôme Poeme

Maison Francis Kurkdijan create beautiful long lasting fragrances. Baccarat Rouge is very well known but Grand Soir and Oud Satin Mood are incredible, too and have a vanilla component in their base notes that is evident in your first four favourites.

If you wanted to move away from the vanilla notes, Hermès Barenia is a gorgeous new fruity / floral chypre which contains patchouli and woody base notes. It has that 'grown up' air and whispers wealth imho.

Happy hunting for your new scent.

Perpetuallyperfect · 30/12/2024 18:25

Aah thanks everyone, some great suggestions for me.

@evilharpy I have only ever had black orchid from
Tom Ford and it gave me a headache, I wanted to love it though. In my online
browsing I came across Cafe Rise which is in my list to sniff at weekend.

@SchruteShunned see I would never had said I liked vanilla if you’d have asked but if my faves all have it in I must be a secret vanilla lover! The Hermes one you mentioned sounds promising.

I had high hopes for the new Hermes.
i thought it was beautiful the first time I tried it but then, when I tried it again it was very fruity, so that was a no.

DS Durga Debaser is growing on me thought.

DramaAlpaca · 30/12/2024 18:33

I think you might like Scherzo by Miller Harris.

haribonoyoudont · 30/12/2024 18:36

A few more:

If you liked 'Not A Perfume', you might also like DS & Durga's 'I Don't Know What', le labo's 'Another 13' and the Eccentric Molecule range - they're all made with a synthetic woody perfume, Iso E Super, which is elegant and woody on its own whilst merging with your own skin scent, or can be used for layering.

Oud also smells expensive, i think, so you might like any of the Jo Malone line that have oud in.

MerryLiftMass · 30/12/2024 18:38

I have recently been given Armani My Way which has vanilla as a base.

Idontjetwashthefucker · 30/12/2024 18:45

My favourite is Hermes rue du faubourg, smells really expensive

Chocolately · 30/12/2024 18:57

I tried Barenia, but found it too synthetic smelling.
Currently stealing little sprays of my DH's Terre de Hermes, and am thinking I prefer it to my perfume atm. 😁

Rollergirl11 · 30/12/2024 19:02

Another vote for Maison Francis Kurkdijan. I have Gentle Fluidity and it is up there as one of my favourite perfumes ever. It is musky and lasts a very long time. I have had lots of compliments on it.

Lancôme Poeme

LOVE this!

umdontdothat · 30/12/2024 22:58

My current favourite is Caroline Herrara good girl blush except the bottle design is crap.

umdontdothat · 30/12/2024 23:01

And second favourite is Prada Paradox

pinkhimalayan · 31/12/2024 00:13

Try Frederick Malle portrait of a lady and Lancôme la nuit tresor l'eau. Both are exquisite with good projection and longevity

SchruteShunned · 31/12/2024 12:21

@ChardonnaysBeastlyCat it's funny because I too had high hopes for Barenia but when I tried it initially I wasn't impressed at all; it was too floral. I popped the paper spill inside my pocket and forgot about it, then days later when I found it and smelled the spill....WOW!
