I’m over-thinking this but cannot find what I’m after so hoping someone can post some links. Straight, wide, slim, tapered, don’t know but basically a modern day trackie bottoms that are okay to wear to the local shop, probably black but my 18 yr old says no side stripe (was looking at White Co, Baukjen, Marks, H&M). Don’t want a full sportswear look, something I can wear with a nice jumper, sweatshirt would be good. Any other places to look please and what leg style (I’m a slim although aging size 8/10)?

Thanks

Uniqlo and Zara have quite a few of the wide leg jogger type trousers. I bought a pair on Uniqlo a few weeks ago that are buttery soft!

I’ve ordered some from Hollister in the sale but they aren’t here yet so I can’t speak for the quality. Great price though.

These don’t come in black but a nice charcoal grey.

Haven't rtft but Uniqlo elasticated waist, wide leg trousers, think they are flannel.

I’ve not had much time but have been through most, if not all, the links and suggestions and there are a few very definite possibilities. The Goddess navy ones are gorgeous, quite like the Stradivarius pair linked very early on, Saint and Sofia quite nice and there are a few others I have open on tabs. I still haven’t ordered anything though! Common sense is pushing me towards a less expensive pair as I don’t want to be treating them as good wear but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t tempted by some of the more expensive pairs!

Thanks for all the suggestions and links!

Honestly I think it's worth spending more on a good pair. It's a false economy otherwise because 1. You end up wearing them all the time so cost per wear is good 2. You need them to be robust material because of all the wear 3. Be used they're so casual cheap ones can end up looking rag like more easily, you need something more expensive to look chic so you don't feel like a flump after two wears

Try Ninepine

I think these M&S barrel leg joggers actually look a bit interesting (although the grey is very uninspiring for smarter wear, you can see the shape better on them), but I haven’t seen them. Might change my mind entirely when I have.😆

I need to chuck all my old Hush Alexas really, they are a bit tired and too big - and quality has dived on them, so wouldn’t re-buy.

@arrigatto stop! You’re enabling me! I keep reminding myself I want to wear them to walk the dog and clean the bathroom 🤷🏻‍♀️. @WinWhenTheyreSinging got a tab open with those!

I love Me&Em Palazzo pants, they’re jersey and have the most comfortable waistband ever.

I love the marks and Spencer scuba style - they look expensive

Really liked these in store but wondered if they would bobble quickly being manmade??

DizzyCow63 · 01/01/2025 21:57

Not a shop I would usually shop in but I would highly recommend these from Hollister. I’ve been on the lookout for something similar to you and spotted these when in getting DS some bits yesterday, they were in the sale so I thought worth a try. Came home and tried them on and immediately went online and ordered more! They are a thick cotton material and feel like they will wear well.

I bought these for my daughter for Christmas. They are great quality, and super soft.

I got these for my DD15 for xmas, under strict instructions about wideness and no detailing etc, and she declared them perfect!

I get you! Try Uniqlo, COS, or & Other Stories for joggers that aren’t too sporty. Go for straight or slightly tapered fits and pair them with a comfy jumper or sweatshirt. You’ll be good to go!

Chocolatey1234 · 03/01/2025 14:24

I have two pairs of these in navy and black. I got them to replace several pairs of very old faded pairs of jersey:joggers/trousers. I love them so much I hate when they are in the wash and wear them for everything (work, shopping, dog walking, meeting friends for coffee, gym etc). I feel comfortable but well put together when I wear them. I bought them on a Black Friday Offer but think they offer 10% off for new customers.

I really like those @Chocolatey1234 and have considered them before but I really like pockets, they should do some with pockets, I'd definitely buy them!

DorothyStorm · 03/01/2025 16:18

Oh wow! ‘Thread gallery’ is game changing!

lovelydrapes · 03/01/2025 18:56

Have a look at the Chinti and Parker sale, they have some nice wide leg and tapered ‘loungewear’ trousers (just ordered some!)

Nitgel · 03/01/2025 19:04

The audience Tippi are lovely. Soft and drape nicely. I love the stripes. Uniqlo joggers are thick and great for winter too.

Nitgel · 03/01/2025 19:10

Baukjen not audience. Lol

Survivingnotthriving24 · 03/01/2025 22:11

£138 for the Reiss ones for them to be polyester is outrageous.

I've ordered the stradivarius ones, should see me through to fitting back in my jeans after the Christmas overindulgence!

Crowdedhouseagain · 29/12/2024 00:01

Oh wow, thank you for all the suggestions. There are a few very definite possibilities including Stradivarius, the Marks Scuba pair and also saw a wide legged pair on their website and Next look to have a few possibilities. Have stumbled across [[https://www.reiss.com/style/su422710/ab2422#ab2422 www.reiss.com/style/su422710/ab2422#ab2422]]]] but they are way way more than I would spend - I think they’re what I see in my mind’s eye but some of your suggestions aren’t too far off.

I have a Reiss tracksuit - yes, very expensive, but then I wear it all the time and it's both comfortable and hard wearing.

Put it another way, how many outfits do you own that cost more than £100 and you have worn less than half a dozen times? You'll get more wear out of the Reiss in less than a week.

MrsPositivity1 · 05/01/2025 07:23

I’ve 2 pairs of these and love them https://www.argos.co.uk/product/tuc144478839

also google yoga pants

Mishmashs · 05/01/2025 08:32

@Chocolatey1234 do you know the name of your ninepine trousers? For some reason the link reverts to the ninepine homepage and there is a lot of choice so not sure which are the ones you recommended!

Glockstar · 05/01/2025 10:17

I think the Saint and Sofia apartment pant are similar - and they have pockets :)
