Pre loved handbag?

I’ve seen a bag I like the look of. It’s pre loved. It’s normally £1,195. It’s now £560. Not sure if it’s worth the splurge though as it’s beige.

Not only that but I’ve never purchased pre loved as I worry what condition it’ll arrive in!

I only buy pre loved bags from a trusted source where I can physically hold and look at it in person.
If you think its worth the money and you will use it then get it but not just because its cheaper than new.

Hskatkat · 28/12/2024 13:53

@ThePerkyCoralPoet
where have you seen it?
I would be wary due to how often threads on here pop up about how crap something they bought on vinted etc is because one person's idea of 'preloved' is another person's 'trashed'
Has it got any authentication?
If you have a solid chance if getting your money back if it's not as described etc I would buy it if I loved it.

I agree with previous poster. Use only a trusted source. Who are you looking at?

If its eBay or Vinted, I'd be very careful, so many fakes being sold as authentic.

What bag is it?

It’s not about being cheaper than new. It’s literally just for work. Hence why I thought it’ll do. However I keep my work bags for 2/3 years so it would get good use. Just not sure. The bag is from the retailer itself.

Absolutely not eBay or vines. They worry me as there’s no true was of authenticating the stock. I’m going with the actual retailer of the bag.

Edited

It’s from the actual retailer. I don’t trust 3rd party sites.

If you love it but it

If you're asking us then you don't love it because you'd have bought it by now

Hskatkat · 28/12/2024 14:12

If from the retailer I would, if I loved it.
Can you afford it?
Do you love it?
If yes go for it .
If it's not what your are expecting it can be returned I presume?

I think I’m just a bit retiscent with the idea of pre loved. However as it’s a work bag I’m torn. It’ll get its use but I also dump it wherever.

I've often purchased preloved bags. They are fine. If it's from the retailer they will probably have given it a clean.

Hskatkat · 28/12/2024 14:21

I love bags, collected many and I used them. Years ago I took my puppy to the vets in a vintage mulberry because that's the bag I was using and they got tired , chucked "good" bags in supermarket trollies, on pub floors etc. things are for using imo

MyLovelyLily · 28/12/2024 14:33

Since it's beige, is it grained leather? It will look better and last longer if so. As for it being pre-loved, go for it! Almost all of my designer bags are pre-loved and they are all holding up wonderfully. You can always use a leather balm to give it some life and I usually use a handbag liner inside to keep it holding its shape for longer.

Hskatkat · 28/12/2024 14:42

Lord Sheraton leather balm is fantastic for cleaning and under £5
I always have one on the go

It’s large grain leather. £575 for a bag I’m only using for work seems fantastic. But like I said my only concern is 1. Will it go with what I wear (I’m either in all black or grey) 2. I can’t tell if they have touched up the image on the retailer site 3. How pre loved is it. I normally buy new bags but in this instance as it’s for work ir doesn’t seem worth the 1k splurge. £500 ish seems like enough.

If it”s from the retailer they will have a returns policy.

Is it Mulberry?

Hskatkat · 28/12/2024 14:53

With each reply you seem less keen @ThePerkyCoralPoet so maybe it's not the bag for you?

my only issue is that firstly it’s pre loved (which isn’t the issue it’s more the condition) secondly. Does beige/light cream go with everything? That’s my only sticking point

Also as the sales are on brand new is around £790 at the moment. But again not the shade I want

Mulberry are usually accurate in their second hand listings.

Hskatkat · 28/12/2024 15:08

I like and wear inky/ berry /dark colours. I've never bought a paler coloured bag, but I do cleaned all my bags regularly with LS I suggested earlier.
What shade of bag are you really wanting? (Style/size)
You might get suggestions you've not thought of?

Mainly black but I’m sick of it. All my handbags have always been black. Like we said beige/ cream as a daily work bag would get so heavily used. I’m worried that I would end up ruining it

I had a maroon/wine leather handbag that I adored and used regularly , not even sure it was branded but it was perfect until I leant it to someone.
I do own a lot of black, most my Mulberry bags are browns / green ( 80/90s I don't like the newer style and don't think they aren't as well made)
How much stuff are you needing to put in it?
You could have something made?
