Hoping to pick up a decent properly waterproof jacket in the sales 🤞🏼 UK size 22-24. Can anyone recommend any brands to look at?
i bought a padded style last year from Mountain Warehouse and within one wash the padding had all gone funny and it was unwearable.

Following. I find that often decent outdoor brands stop at size 20.

FreeMilkshakesForYou · 28/12/2024 14:06

Jack Murphy jackets go up to a 24 I think. I've had a waterproof coat from there and really liked it

2Pandora · 28/12/2024 14:22

I got a great ‘animal ‘one last year.

GreyBlackBay · 28/12/2024 14:32

What style are you looking for? All the younger women round here go for the changing robe type, DryRobe I think.

Its not my look but they'rec atually really good quality, waterproof to 10,000mm etc. To wear it as a coat you probably want a smaller size, check carefully.

SpicyMarge · 28/12/2024 14:36

Seasalt usually do sizes up to 26/28 and their waterproof coats are properly waterproof.

Bigbirdenergy · 28/12/2024 14:41

Seasalt

PineappleCoconut · 28/12/2024 14:55

Another recommendation for sea salt.
Properly waterproof, unlike many.

unsync · 28/12/2024 15:18

Landsend. Although their colours this year aren't great.

@comewhinewith Yeah that’s what I seem to be finding 😓

@GreyBlackBay Not really got a set style in mind but the DryRobe style is definitely not for me 😊

Off for a look at the other brands mentioned - thank you all 😊

Thanks for starting this thread. I need a water proof coat but not puffy style otherwise I’ll look like I can be rolled down pavements☹️🙀😢

Pumpkinseason3 · 28/12/2024 19:50

@SpicyMarge @Bigbirdenergy @PineappleCoconut

What’s the Seasalt sizing like? Would you go bigger or smaller if usually between sizes?

@Coffeetostart 😂😂 Honestly - I made the mistake of ordering a long puffy coat from Monsoon a couple of months ago and I wish I had taken a picture 😂 Didn’t help that it was also a very oversized fit 🙈

I have a Seasalt Plant Hunter. Love it. The Janelle is very similar. I'd go up, but their return policy is so simple that I'd order both sizes if possible

@Dearover That’s the two I’m currently torn between 🙈😂

Joules waterproof coats are nice, I got this one. The sizing is quite large but it is not in the sale. My last joules raincoat lasted years.

@Moonchildalltheway Joules is my usual go-to but fancied trying something new 😊

Also looking at Seasalt Hunter, sorry @Pumpkinseason3 I seem to be hogging your thread. Dear me, hog isn’t a word I want to dwell on right now🙀

springlike · 28/12/2024 20:17

Seasalt Plant Hunter is fab. I also have the Janelle which is longer but the PH is my favourite. It goes with everything and the hood is so warm and cozy.

TartanMammy · 28/12/2024 20:18

The North Face have a plus size range. I have a lightweight waterproof and a thick warm parka, they are both brilliant.

comewhinewith · 28/12/2024 20:21

I was put off Seasalt as I bought a waterproof mac that wasn't fully waterproof and had buttons instead of a zip which really annoyed me!

Pumpkinseason3 · 28/12/2024 20:24

Theres a Plant Hunter and a Janelle currently on their way to me 🫠 You’re all terrible influences and I hope you’re happy that you’ve cost me a fortune 😂😂 But at least I’ll hopefully be dry 🤞🏼😂

Seasalt again - they are quite generous so if in doubt size down. They have easy returns anyways

Haha. They do last though, so it’s an investment
