Daily I cleanse, serum and moisturise. Vitamin C serum in the morning, and one for fine lines at night. I also use an eye cream at night.
Weekly I shave armpits/legs.
Eyebrow tint every 5 weeks. Haircut as needed .
Everything else I do as needed, not on a rota.

If you struggle I'd suggest keeping it really simple.

Each day:
Shower
Slap some moisturiser on your face morning and night
Clean teeth morning and night
Put on some mascara and lipstick if you like it
Move your body - do some stretches/ go for a walk

Start with that

CharlotteCChapel · 28/12/2024 09:07

Self care doesn't necessarily mean long beauty routines, it can be as simple as putting down the electronics and read a book, or meditate.

Lentilweaver · 28/12/2024 09:11

I think it's very important to shower daily and I can't leave the house without one. But many on here disagree.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 28/12/2024 09:24

Daily
Shower
Clean teeth x 2
Moisturise (face, body)
Wash, dry, style hair

Weekly
Shave under arms

Periodically
Face scrub (twice a week)
Hair cut (every 5wks as mine grows fast)
Eye brow & eye lash tint (2-3 wks. I'm fair and don't bother with make-up)
Leg and bikini wax (6-8 wks)

Runhomejack · 28/12/2024 11:48

This is self care on top of hair, body+teeth cleaning for me:
Daily AM - face wash, vit c sérum, moisturising face SPF.
Daily PM - face wash, retinol serum, moisturiser.
Weekly - trim nails short and to the same shape, pluck any stand alone face hairs, plan when I will be able to do my favourite exercise sessions over the week.
Monthly - in my fantasy life I would get a facial every month.
Quarterly - hair trim/style.
Quarterly/every 6 months - look at clothes for upcoming weather season, get rid of any unrepairable items or things that don't fit or suit me anymore. Dry clean or mend anything that needs it. See if anything can be altered to be more flattering or useful. Consider if there are any items I could buy to complement current clothes so I get more outfits (last summer I got some chunky sandals that made my old clothes look fresh). Plan a few outfits and take pictures so I can remember when I am feeling like I have nothing to wear.

If anything feels like a chore I think it's probably not self care. I love clothes and style so love doing my "wardrobe review".

I agree with this. Would also add, drink water through out the day.

I can manage to do this, most days anyway. I dislike self care.

Sorry also which tooth whitener??

Self care:
Get outside
Do a guided meditation off Insight Timer
Talk to a friend
Do a puzzle
Watch a tv show you like
Flick through old photos
Take yourself for a massage
Make yourself a tea and read a book
Do 30 mins yoga

All the PPs seem to be talking about is personal hygiene/grooming?

DappledThings · 28/12/2024 13:36

What you "need" to do depends entirely on what you want to achieve. If you're not interested in painted nails for example then there's no point adding them to a list.

I do:
Shower daily
Wash hair every other day
Brush teeth twice daily

and that's pretty much it. Which is all I need to feel I am taking care of myself as much as makes me feel happy and relaxed.

Everyone has varied points on that spectrum of where they feel they are doing enough so it seems silly for strangers to tell you what you should be doing without knowing what kind of look you're after.

Because it's in Style and Beauty. So I'd assume OP is after more personal grooming tips/lists.

To me, the ultimate form of self care is eating properly but I agree with these points too. Not eating food type substances from a factory in general and having recognisable foods instead with plenty of fruit and veg variety. Plus hitting my protein goal

Bigbirdenergy · 28/12/2024 15:23

Daily:
Shower 1-2
Brush and floss x2
Brush hair 1-2
Spf or moisturise as needed

Weekly:
Nails trim and hair removal if desired
Hair mask if needed
Wash, dry and iron clothes and plan outfit for week ahead.
Clean and polish shoes

monthly
Wash any coats or jackets if needed

Quarter annually:
Haircut or trim at home or in salon
Review your wardrobe for upcoming season and buy anything needed.

EveryDayisFriday · 28/12/2024 15:35

I've simplified mine to take minutes.

Morning shower: for my face I use a facial exfoliating sponge with soap. Quick body wash.

After shower: Day cream mixed with some serum on my face. Spray on body oil after towel drying. Let soak in whilst brushing my teeth.

Light makeup: concealer, powder foundation, mascara, blush and lip stain.

I have a full on shower 3x a week where I wash my hair, hair conditioning treatment, shave and use body exfoliating sponge all over. Usually in the evening when I have time to style my hair before bed. I might IPL too if needed.

Evening routine is face cleanser on, removed with clean flannel with hot water, toner, serum and night cream with a dot of eye cream and lip balm on.

Bottles of water nearby to constantly sip. Hand cream to dab on every day. Foot cream on at bedtime.

Good sleep and nutritious food.

AutoP1lot · 28/12/2024 15:53

My daily routine is very quick & simple. I rarely wear any makeup at all.

Morning;
Brush teeth
Shower (wash hair around every 3rd day)
Blow dry if hair washed, otherwise just brush it
Moisturise face & body
Apply lip balm

Evening:
Water flosser or dental floss
Brush teeth
Cleanse, tone & apply serum & lip mask
Brush hair
Lie with a gold eye mask on whilst listening to an audio book

Weekly:
A longer shower in which I exfoliate my face & body
Light spray tan

Monthly:
Pedicure, waxing, lash & brow tint
BIAB manicure

2-monthly:
Hair trim & colour

PaulaBrighton · 28/12/2024 18:09

To these I would add daily cuticle oil, I make my own from Jojoba oil with a dash of Vitamin E oil. I often do this then rub in hand cream and sleep with cotton gloves on.

Once a week I'll have a foot spa at home then use what I affectionately call the cheese grater to remove the hard edges. If I can, depending on footwear I often pile on foot cream as it gives me a more soft cushioned feel all day long.

rainbowbee · 28/12/2024 18:18

Roughly-
Daily- shower, moisturise, teeth x2, skin routine at night.
Weekly-shave what you want shaved, pay attention to finger/toe nails, a scrub, face mask, good blow dry. (Sunday night is good for that if you're in a Mon-Fri job).
Monthly- brows and lashes (mine are blonde so need a bit extra). Nails if you get them done. I would get a pedicure and a lash tint.
Quarterly- hair appointment, check in with fitness/goals, anything needing tweaked in your food/for your health, do you need anything dental sorted before it's a problem? Maybe a massage or spa day?
