Alternatives to Doc Martens?

Hi!

I’m looking to update my go-to shoes which are currently a pair of DMs but they are looking scruffy.

I don’t think Docs are as great as they used to be, prices seem high, I can’t see any I love anyway so less keen to half-kill myself breaking them in Xmas Hmm

What are the alternatives these days please? Happy to spend around £200 and prefer plain, or mostly plain, black.

TIA

Solovair? Are they many of the original DM team working from the original factory?

TheSpottedZebra · 27/12/2024 21:04

Aren't they, that should say.
I think they are!

Solavairs are made by the old doc martins factory in the Uk before it was sold and moved to china.
or lanx are also excellent also British made boots

Lanx women's boots are not made in the UK. They have a small number of sneakers made in the UK but their women's boots are made in India.

I have 2 pairs of Solovair boots and they're great. They can be resoled as well if need be.

Also worth looking at Grenson - expensive but they do have great sales.
