New years princessing?

Decapitatedsausage · 26/12/2024 19:41

I got diagnosed with cancer in the summer and have been very fortunate as it has been very treatable. However, 2 surgeries / medication trials / stress / being bed bound etc has really taken its toll on me and I’m now at the point where I’m embarrassed to go out as I look so different.

So does any one fancy helping to keep me accountable in the New Year by joining me in a princessing thread?

My list so far is proper back to basics as I regain my health / stamina again so please don’t think I’m being lazy, but so far I have:

  1. walk 8000 steps a day, rising to 10k in 6 weeks.
  2. drink water not Diet Coke!
  3. LED face mask every day
  4. Philips lumea every fortnight
  5. footner and then foot cream every night
  6. hand cream by bed and by sink, use it!
  7. eye brows dyed and waxed every 3 weeks
  8. nails short and buffered or with gel nails.
  9. moisturise body twice a day.
  10. somatic yoga every day
  11. volume hair extensions as my hair has fallen out / thinned after treatment
  12. skincare every morning and night
  13. vitamins every day
  14. bio oil on scar twice a day
  15. gradual tanning moisturiser every day
  16. use electric toothbrush and teeth whitening strips
  17. calorie controlled diet, based on nutritious food not junk!!
  18. Botox in the new year

Im sure there will be more things, I have 3 stone to lose (meds have done me dirty!) and I just look OLD and sort of grey with falling out hair now. I want to sort my wardrobe too and get rid of all the clothes that no longer fit!

Any one else up for it?

I am!

Your list looks quite intimidating
to me - but I’m probably just lazy! I will aim to be just as impressive with mine because you’re an inspiration xx

I started a new job last year just after my wonderful dad died after a long gruelling illness. It was an awful death, and bad timing with the new (teaching) job which has proven to be stressful and all consuming.

So … along with various stress induced skin issues (now mostly solved) and poor diet and sleep I could do with a reboot and I’m using this quiet ‘Twixmas’ period to rest, reflect and try to get on top of things.

My plan:

  1. Ditch dairy as it doesn’t suit my skin or my stomach. Definitely no cows milk. Will have cheese occasionally.
  2. Skin routine morning AND night.
  3. Pilates followed by sauna and jacuzzi at the gym once a week.
  4. Follow 12-8 diet
  5. Only drink alcohol on a Saturday night
  6. Body brush in shower with nice shower gel followed by spray body oil every morning.
  7. Keep nice hand cream and cuticle oil by bed to use at night
  8. Eye brows and nails done every 5-6 weeks (I have shellac on builder gel and it last five weeks easily)
  9. Take gut friendly supplements (turmeric and pepper? Feel so overwhelmed on the Holland and Barret website)
  10. Get small amount of Botox in February
  11. Buy new pair of heels
  12. Perfume every day

Gosh now I have a long list! Feels achievable though x

Oh please stop calling yourselves lazy for not following loads of beauty steps!

Wishona · 26/12/2024 22:48

Using your list, a lot I do already but some tweaks and add ins.

  1. Weights or yoga as well as daily pilates
  2. drink water or weak juice not coffee!
  3. Skin and Me every day
  4. Continue laser hair removal every 6 weeks
  5. footner and then foot cream every night
  6. hand cream by bed and by sink, use it
  7. nails shellac every 3 weeks
  8. toenails shellac every 6 weeks
  9. moisturise body once a day
  10. keratin blow dry every 6 months
  11. roots every 8 weeks, cut every 16 weeks
  12. collagen and creatine daily
  13. vitamins every day
  14. bio oil on scar once a day
  15. fake tan weekly, 4/6 weeks (not near laser)
  16. floss teeth daily
  17. batch cook twice a week so freezer full
  18. Botox and profhilo every 6 months

I had to do an Advanced Search for this , I was looking out for a New Year Thread so thank you @Decapitatedsausage and hopefully you are improving day by day after your surgeries .

I am not one of lifes natural Princesses . I don't wear make-up unless I am going out out .
I cannot wear any nail product at work and I really don;t feel the need to treat my nails at the weekend ( polish or strengtheners that I'd have to remove )

I am doing the No Spend January then I'll review in Feb .
I did buy my essential toiletries ( toothpaste , anti perspirant) in December and some hand cream today . Bought some new bras in December .

I aim to use up somethings lurking in the cupboards .

My Goal for this Princessing episode is a holiday in April. And I can attain this if I keep things simple. Not too many on my list . And the reminder in my head if you do something for 21 Days it becomes a habit .

To-Do List:

Eat a banana every lunch time . Easy enough I take one with me and eat it

Drink more water . I noticed today I;m a bit dehydrated so I've had a few glasses . I don't mind drinking late at night .

Use my hair dye ( I decided to do the "Go Grey Stop the Dye" but about 6 months ago I thought "Nah , stuff this " and bought some wash in toner , it makes a huge difference

Eye brows - I use serum, I need to dye them

Wax - I have done my armpits and top lip tonight

Nail buffer - bought a Leighton Denny kit , it's by my computer so every couple of days I can do some work on them

Cream on my feet - I used my heel file then cream and socks
At night I'll use handcream and gloves

Face-mask- I;ll do tomorrow

Hair mask- tomorrow then I can waft about in a plastic hat

Using soap to wash. I bought some for DH , it has sat unused in the drawer so I thought "give it a try" . I;m not a fan as I keep dropping it but it is nice on my skin. I'll go back to showergel after the cold spell

De-Clutter . I have recycled a lot this week . Plan to do some more tomorrow . Take out any clothes that I know I will never wear /don't fit

That'll Do for now . I might add some more later Grin

Jabtastic · 11/01/2025 23:47

That is a VERY big list OP I think if you manage even a third of those you will notice a difference! Health stuff is awful for knocking confidence Flowers

My list for starters is:

Book podiatrist appointment
Book dental check and hygienist
Drink 1.5 litres of water a day plus tea rather than coffee
Keep up nail and hair appointments (easy wins!)
Find an easy wipe off cleanser I like and use it!
Body brushing and body lotion
Foot cream

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/01/2025 11:12

Multi-Vitamins : I found a box of Menopause Vitamins with Iodine , B Complex,VitC, D3 and Red Clover . Started taking these during Christmas .

My Princessing Plans have had the brakes put on for now as we have Low Water Pressure so the shower is a dribble of cold water ! Hair mask and face mask will need to wait.

My hands feel amazing after a night of cream and gloves , makes such a difference .

CharlotteCChapel · 12/01/2025 11:58

I'm off to Rome in four weeks, so I'm doing a simple skincare routine twice a day rather than just the evening.

Considering a hair cut, but I hate getting it done.
Shape and polish on fingernails, except they're playing up and keep breaking down to the quick.

I'm trying to exercise more but I've been ill since just after Christmas and my arthritis is playing up so I don't really have the energy.

One thing I've actually managed is to get my hair in good condition. I finally have found out my hair is missing hair oil so I'm really pleased.

I've also decided to use a face mask once a week. Last Friday was Emma Hardie which smelt gorgeous and left my skin so soft but it was far too drying so DD gets another item from my advent calendar.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/01/2025 17:02

Oh enjoy Rome Charlotte it's a beautiful city .
I don;t know if it is a first visit for you or a return ?

Our water got sorted so I had my long hot shower ( I was loathe to get out again into the cold)
I did a scrub while I was in there - I have some of those long scrubbing clothes , add some shower gel and buff back/forth . Much easier than a bodyscrub.

I'll do my mask tonight . Just had dinner and not in the mood to move now Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/01/2025 18:56

Eye brows dyed
I'm using the Molton Brown Orange and Bergamot at weekends (love this but it is ££) on working days I have a huge bottle of Faith in Nature .

Exfolliant yesterday - I do a face exfolliant once a week or so .
Hair serum
Cream on hands and feet tonight

Allthatwegotisthispalebluedot · 19/01/2025 21:10

Jumping on this because I love these threads and previous ones have made a real difference in helping me set up lovely habits.
My goals - I have 100 days til a BIG holiday that I’d like to look pretty for.

  • regular exercise and lose half a stone.
  • keep up nail polish and toe nail polish.
  • foot cream.
70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/01/2025 19:22

Need to book to get my hair cut probably in March time ?
Drinking water ( though total fail today so catching up now )

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/02/2025 21:24

Counting down till I go on holiday .

I dyed my hair ( it's a toner rather than a dye but it works well)
Exfoliated my face - I was going to do a face mask too but I reckoned that would be too much .

I put a 1 litre bottle of Philip Kingsley Itchy Flakey Scalp shampoo in the bathroom for my DS , I use this to clarify before I use dye but my DS uses as his daily shampoo ( it is ££ but smells lovely and helps his scalp 1000%)

I did some recycling and tidying of clothes , bought some new bras .

At the moment I am wearing my nice jumpers and cosy leggings , Too cold for jeggings !

Water . Lots if water
