I’m in the market for new sportswear. Mostly for running but I do other bits too I’d like a new sports bra, long sleeved top and leggings. Ideally the leggings would have leg pockets and make my none existent/flat arse look amazing. Mostly I like black but I could be open minded for something that makes me look like I belong running around the hills.

Size 6-8ish but obviously we all know sizing is all over the place anyway. Budget ideally on the lower end but I’ll stretch for the right thing.

Can anyone make any suggestions?

Sweaty Betty & Lululemon up there with the best IMO but not cheap. Gymshark are also very good and they will have bits in the sale.

Decathlon

I like the m&s good move leggings range. They have a good phone pocket on the side and I can’t feel my phone at all whilst running. I can’t bring myself to spend lulu lemon or sweaty betty levels of money.

I’ll only wear shock absorber sports bras but I’m a lot bigger than you so you might not need that level of scaffolding.

I’m still breastfeeding so unusually slightly blessed beyond my typical fried egg situation

The M&S range is great and not overpriced. I'm not impressed by SB or Lululemon but they are popular, but I don't aim for stylish, just functional and not hideous, and usually buy from sports/running sites (I like Start Fitness but you might have other proper sports shops near you) .

My non-negotiables are:
decent high impact sports bras (usually shock absorber)
training shoes for gym, proper running shoes for running (don't use them for anything else)
clothes that don't chafe (usually black or navy, sports brands that don't do athleisure usually)
A pocket (I don't normally take my phone with me)
no pink or purple
no clothes colours that are see-thru or show sweat (light grey, white and light pastels)
no excessive skin showing (cleavage, bum crack)

Also not putting sports shoes in the washing machine. Ruined more than one pair doing that.
And don't use fabric conditioner with fitness clothes.

I treat myself to SB in the sale. Their running leggings have good pockets on the sides. I also have a couple of their tops, but I prefer Ronhill and Decathlon for tops.

The only thing I'd say is please don't run in black tops unless you're wearing lights. Runners in black are just impossible to see. And even if you're running on pavements, you're still likely to cross the road at some point. I don't get why people don't seem to want to be visible- especially in winter.
