I saw someone had started. a Vinted thread so thought I would start a charity shop best buy thread!
Best- A vintage wool coat from a good brand for £9.99

Worst: A Topshop top that I wore once that kept riding up and that I immediately donated back to a charity shop.

Best ?
vintage mulberry crossbody bag £4
( I've bought loads of good stuff this year, but I've used that one several times recently )

That’s the kind of buy I would be bragging about! Vintage Mulberry bags are some of the best. What style is it?

Mellisa and Doug dolls house in perfect condition. £50 on Amazon, got it for £3.99

Best buy: 1960s Irish linen tailored, lined jacket, very Jackie Kennedy. Not worn yet as it's one for Spring. £6.99.

Worst: Coast fake fur jacket. It had probly been machine washed when the label said dry-clean and I really should have looked more closely before buying as it's very bedraggled in places. £15. Will redonate before new year if I can.

And the jury's still out on a 1980s Droopy & Browns suit with an Edwardian style riding jacket. Fabulous from the back but it's collarless and from the front it's a bit Princess Diana at her style worst (pre divorce). I've thought about altering the collar but it's so well made I'm a bit scared of butchering it. £60 so I can't even call it a bargain Blush - that's central London charity shopping for you.

I also bought
a Blondie Mania bag never used for £3
Panama Jack boots £3
Amazing mens coat £3 (retails around £400+)
Several genuine longchamp bags all under £4
Barefoot leather shoes £3
Smart mens coat £1
Lots of nice pieces of jewellery less than a fiver
Loads more! I love a good charity shop :)

A pure new wool navy blue sweater in men's small.
Ds needed sweaters without hoods for sixth form. They needed to be warm and plain, and I couldn't find anything he liked and was wool/suitable.

Tried cancer research as a last resort before ordering two at £75 each from woolovers.
Perfect, plain navy lambs wool crew neck sweater £4

I haven't told him where it came from 😊

Best:
A cropped boxy vintage M&S jacket, which looks amazing with high waisted trousers.
£5 from local hospice shop.

Worst: unbranded, stripy long sleeved tee. Really good quality jersey fabric and in as-new condition. I took a chance on it because there was no fitting room. However, on getting it home, realised that a woman with my ample bosom has no business wearing horizontal stripes. My boobs looked so vast they had different postcodes. Plan on putting it on Vinted once the madness of Christmas is over.

I've found so many best things this year but most recently a Brora mohair jumper £8 which I've gifted my friend and a Toast A-line long skirt £8 looks unworn , which I'll wear in the spring.

Worst a vintage wool Barbour jumper for Dh that has a number of moth holes which I didn't spot, and it doesn't fit but it was only £6 so I'll repair and stick it on Vinted.

Best - two pairs of Allbirds shoes, one wool, one mesh ($6.99 each). A down filled coat ($14.99). A dress I wore to a wedding reception ($7.99) with kitten heeled slingbacks ($6.99). A pair of blue suede mary jane shoes I wore to the ceremony ($4.99) with a blue/ green Boden dress ($4.99). Hoodie from an American national park ($6.99). Embroidered boho-looking parka that's perfect for autumn weather ($6.99). Sherpa-lined Hollister parka for chilly weather ($9.99).

Worst - blue blouse that didn't go with the skirt I had in mind for it.

YellowPixie · 02/01/2025 16:16

Best was probably a dark green jumper, 100% wool, brand was Holebrook which I didn't recognise but it's Swedish and my £6 woolly jumper was probably £150 new.

Worst was a M&S dress which looked amazing on the hanger but once I got it home and tried it on made me look like a sack of spuds.

Mandarina duck bag - MD20 for 7.50. Had never been used.
skirt in my size which does not fit! Will donate to the shop where I volunteer.

isthismylifenow · 02/01/2025 16:49

Mu best and most recent is a pristine condition navy blue Helly Hansen wool coat. Bought for (equivalent of ) £18

Worst was a Columbia rain jacket that I didn't realise had started delaminating and I put in to wash. I was cleaning white bits out of my machine and drier for ages. It was a lost cause.

Jellycats4life · 02/01/2025 18:32

I got a lovely black wool blend coat from Mango which felt unworn (no bobbling, vent still stitched) for £9.00. And a Me + Em knitted vest for £6.50.

Wish I could find vintage Mulberry!

madaboutpurple · 03/01/2025 01:37

A really warm coat for £3 has been my best. I have not bought much so nothing terrible recently.
