I'd adore to buy a couple of very good quality casually-elegant men's shirts for DH in the sales... any ideas?

I love simple stripes in slightly unusual colours - my favourites have been a deep green turquoise with pale blue, and pale blue with a deeper blue... rust is also a great call, as was a fabulous deep yellowy ochre we found a few years back.

He's easy to buy for - tall, slim, dark hair and slightly olivy complexion.

Any thoughts of where to look online or in real life?

Why three separate threads all about your husband's clothes?

loveyouradvice · 26/12/2024 10:30

No suggestions at all?

Three separate threads for three separate items - I i imagine some people know about some things, not about others...

My husband doesn't adore clothes at all ... he is quite happy to slop around in comfy trousers and jumpers with holes in ... He knows I get huge pleasure from him wearing nicer clothes when out with friends and is happy to do so... and I suspect feels a quiet pride in looking better, but left to his own devices he wouldn't really buy anything... He's tall dark and handsome so very easy to buy for as he fits most things, especially the more European things (slim) rather than the more English Boss style (wider)

You make him sound like a dress up toy not a fully functioning adult.
If you know what style you want Google it.

Missing the point altogether, but Hugo Boss is German…and does tend to have quite slim fitting clothes. But, for men’s shirts you either need Saville row or Italy I’d have thought. And unless you get the off the shelf type Tyrwhitt, Pinks, Lewin et al on a 3 or 4 for £xxx deal you’ll be able to have them made to measure, and in the fabric you like. On the Italian front, they’re well known for shirts, but your problem will be that stripes are nowhere near as popular there, and the Italians stick to classic plain shirts a lot of the time.

Charles Tyrwhitt is a good shout - good quality and usually available in some kind of deal.
For something that's a bit "out there", look at Claudio Lugli bold patterns and designs.

Great advice and perspective @Tryingtokeepgoing ... we've not got the capacity for made to measure but I think I feel an Italian holiday coming on, and we'll browse their shops then....Thank you re Hugo Boss: shows how clueless I am.... Every now and then when we've a bit of spare money I enjoy buying clothes for him

wow @AllMyExesWearRolexes ... what amazing shirts! Some are definitely too far out there, but there are more subtle ones which I think could be fab... and at the right price point for us

Any other thoughts now the sales are upon us?
