Retinal to Tret

I’ve been using medik8 Crystal Retinal for a year now. Worked my way up to 10 which I think is the highest they go.

I am really pleased with the results, but at 46, I’m wondering if I should move on to Tret?

Has anyone gone from high strength Retinal to Tret and noticed a significant improvement or should I stick with what I’m currently doing (Retinal for 5 nights, 10% Glycolic once a week and one night with just a Peptide moisturiser?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

I was on a different retinoid and I'm younger so not exactly what you've asked but what I'll say for the move to tretinoin is that it simplifies your routine. It does a lot of heavy lifting on its own so exfoliating acids and other extras become obsolete to a point. But if you're very sensitive and constantly have to monitor the state of your skin barrier with Tret than the simplicity of it all is lost and the switch is probably not recommended.

Thanks for your response. My skin is pretty hardy. Never had any issues with sensitivity or my skin barrier. Moved up to the retinal I’m on with no issues at all.

The cost of prescription Tret seems comparable with what I’m paying for Retinal, so I’m thinking it might be worth giving it a go.

I started tret about 2 years ago after previous retinol use and I've been very impressed. I had some flaking and a bit of tightness but nothing unexpected. My skin looks really glowy, lines are softer, pigmentation has faded, and I use less foundation than I used to

It's definitely a marathon though, not a sprint, and it will take months rather than weeks to see results
