What do you 'swear by' in winter?

Just wondering if anybody else had certain things that they couldnt live without during winter?
Mine is from my old faithful Primark! I pretty much live in their long sleeved tops or fitted jumpers and velvet plush (the furry ones) leggings.

I love to wear skirts and dresses but have horrible varicose veins so can only get my legs right out in opaques and leggings which means winter for me is when all my mini and mid length items get out!
I use my Primark bits like thermals so I can still wear my summer dresses/skirts.
(although I have 14 pairs of the leggings at this point so maybe I have a problem!!LOL).

Burt's bees tinted lip balm cherry
Massive warm pants/strappy thermal vest
Baileys
Lots of white linen sheets on my bed, I get into it every day on my return home and don’t get up before 12 when I’m off.
Fairy lights everywhere

Cashmere wrap. Wear is as a scarf when outside; you can wrap it around you if you are cold inside; and, you can wrap your hands in it if needed.

NewDogOwner · 22/12/2024 17:57

M&S thin black thermal tops. Wear them as jammies in the house or as a top with a vest under it or as an underlay that doesn't add bulk.

A wood burner

Doesnt fit that well

Grassgarden · 22/12/2024 18:03

Uniqlo heat tech. I work from home and wear leggings and top every day as a base layer. Makes a huge difference

CandyCane5 · 22/12/2024 18:57

Brushed cotton bedding - so cosy!

LadyKenya · 22/12/2024 19:12

witchycat2 · 22/12/2024 19:16

ah yes! Very hard to get out of bed with brushed cotton bedding!

LivingDeadGirlUK · 22/12/2024 19:19

I do love my M&S and Uniqlo heat tech base layers but they do get whiffy, I might have to invest in some silk/merino ones but then there is the hand washing!

GreyBlackBay · 22/12/2024 19:21

An oversized roll neck cashmere jumper. Im not fussed about how it looks, it's my version of an oodie.

Also big sheepskin bootie slippers, Celtic and Co are best.

Do they get smelly after one wear?

I have one thermal from Sainsbury's but good to Iceland I need more

I'm really surprised anything gets smell after one wear!

cromwell44 · 22/12/2024 19:25

Uniqlo heatech tops under my usual work clothes. A fleece neck warmer I got when I went to Lapland and now I wear when not wearing a poloneck. Also Seasalt long, water proof coat, can’t remember what it’s called.

helpmyback · 22/12/2024 19:26

This year I'm loving some skinny jeans and a batwing jumpers from primark last year and an oversized camel coat from TU and some combat boots- also TU but severalYears ago and just got them out the year and finally felt confident to wear them - they were a £15 bargain.

Purplecatshopaholic · 22/12/2024 19:27

Quality wool accessories. Hats, scarves, gloves, pashminas, wrist warmers, generally cashmere, or merino.

EmptyBowl · 22/12/2024 19:29

I live in Cos jumpers, wide-legged cropped trousers and boots, and big scarves.

henlake7 · 22/12/2024 19:32

I must try the Uniqlo heatech tops, they sound really good.

Sadly being vegan I can't wear anything wool or cashmere so I tend to rely on multiple thin layers....also cosy blankets in every room of the house!

yes but I don't drive so walk 30 mins each way to work. Plus peri has made me a bit more sweaty.

TheDandyLion · 22/12/2024 20:55

Wool everything. Lambswool jumpers, cashmere socks hats and gloves. The best insulator and i'm never cold at home anymore.

Doggymummar · 22/12/2024 20:59

My Lakeland heated poncho. I'm on my third one now. Perfect for WFH and snuggling up on the couch

DisplayPurposesOnly · 22/12/2024 21:04

Leather gloves with a warm lining.

Suzuki76 · 22/12/2024 21:09

My 13 year old Ugg boots. I still chuck them on to go and get milk or do a late night solo cinema trip.

Also - sheepskin insoles in my wellies/Dr Martens, Primark thermal leggings under jeans for DS's rugby games and Turtle Doves cashmere fingerless gloves.

VacuumPacked · 22/12/2024 21:22

haramaki, keeps my vitals warm and working well

electric blanket on the bed

thick heavy front door curtain lolling on the carpet, a draught free zone, quiet too

led candles and fairy lights twinkling in the gloom

slow cooker

brandy
