Hi folks, does anyone have any advice on his long you should keep make-up (all types - lipstick, eyeshadow, etc.) before throwing away? Have a heap I rarely use except for nights out, but it’s years old! 🙈 TIA.

i think officially its 6 months, especially for eye make-up where you can get an infection. But a lot of people keep for 12 months. i know this because i too had a great pile of old stuff which i've recently binned and replaced. the person i spoke to nearly fainted when i said how old mine was

Powders don't really go bad, sanitise with alcohol if you're unsure and haven't used something in a while.

Cream products have a little icon of an open jar with a number of months it will be good for after opening but usually it lasts beyond that and any noticeable off smell will let you know it's no longer good.
.
Things marketed as 'natural' or 'clean' have noticeably much shorter lifespans and can sometimes go off before you anticipate or the little icon indicates.

Anything used directly around the eyes like mascara and gel/liquid liners should be tossed out after six months.

I just keep mine until they smell weird or the texture changes.

I hardly use makeup so I've had mine for years and haven't died yet using it.
