Hair thinning around temples?

I went to get my haircut the other day by a hairdresser that I haven’t seen for a while. Long story but I’m not keen on her as a person (she is very passive aggressive and a bit bitchy) but she does cut my hair how I like it!

Anyway, I turned 40 this year and she commented that my hair was starting to thin and that it ‘must be my age’ it’s an area right next to my temples.
I was quite shocked as I hadn’t actually noticed (so surely it can’t be that bad) and didn’t think 40 was that old!
Anyway, I have just been inspecting and it does indeed appear now that there is a patch on either side of my temples that appears thinner. I don’t know if it is me being paranoid though! I do have a LOT of hair and it is very long.
Has anyone else experienced this? Have you managed to get it to grow back again? It’s obviously not that noticeable but my attention has been brought to it now!

I have this. I'm early 40's. Mine is due to hormones (they are a bit all over the place due to peri menopause). I am now on hrt and it seems to have stabilised the hair loss at the temples and it is starting to grow back.

Other things to consider are low iron, thyroid etc. I also lost a lot of hair a few months after pregnancies. Plus hair loss a few months after coming off the pill. It has always grown back once my hormones stabilised

Yep my lovely thick hair got way thinner during perimenopause. Biotin helped but also HRT. It’s alarming and v v annoying! Xx

Yep me too
Peri, anaemia and thyroid combined over here. I'd second the biotin and get your levels checked. Biggest difference for me was my iron

I take a hair and nail vitamin it has biotin and some other stuff in it. It's worth reading the packet to see what it has in it as a lot of brands charge triple and double for the same content as cheaper supermarket brands.
