Where to apply lash serum?

Stupid question perhaps but I am new to this product. Do I put the lash serum on my lashes like mascara or on my skin at base of lashes like eye liner?
Instructions on the box are not clear.

It's supposed to be like eyeliner. Be really careful with this though as many people have experienced lash serums causing dark circles or sunken looking eyes.

On the lash line. Darkness only occurs from Prostaglandin so just check your ingredients if you're not okay with this.

As a PP has said, I think it's dependent on the brand, but definitely worth knowing about. I bought eyebrow serum to try and repair my 90s brows but also didn't know about this until I'd been using it for a while. No side effects for me but I was using it on my brows rather than directly on my eyes. I've stopped now just in case.

No need to put it on lowerlashes. The serum from the top line, just above the lashes migrates dowwards when you’re asleep.

Apparently it can't have the same effect on the eyebrows as it's a different skin thickness.
