And if so could you advise me how to style/ wear it?

I do like it but I'm hopelessly lost in terms of knowing what to wear it with and whether it is even something acceptable to wear?!

After having my kids I am trying to reclaim a bit of my own style by purchasing things I like the look of, but still feel very under confident!

Yes, I love it

you could wear it with leggings tucked into black boots or jeans tucked into boots, or jeans with flat trainers?

Doggymummar · 11/12/2024 20:32

It's a teddy bear coat, or am I missing something? Nice and neutral to wear with casual clothes.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 11/12/2024 20:34

I like it.

I was a big fan of The Wombles when I was growing up.

I've bought and sold that coat twice on Vinted! It's absolutely beautiful and very warm but you need to be quite tall and slim to show it off to its best advantage. My tallest slimmest friend has just bought it and she looks amazing in it in a 70's kind of way that I couldn't pull off.

Puppylucky · 11/12/2024 20:39

Sorry forgot to add styling tips - she wears it with jeans tucked into boots for the full 70s effect

You could wear it underground or overground...

I really like it, it's a neutral enough colour to wear everywhere and you could dress it up or down.

EnjoythemoneyJane · 11/12/2024 20:54

I’d wear it with wide slouchy trousers & vintage style adidas trainers, or with a midi dress and ankle boots. It’s really cute, OP - looks toasty for winter as well!

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 11/12/2024 21:20

No you don't. You need to be the size appropriate for whichever size of the jacket you're wearing.

It's a teddy bear jacket. It's nice. You wear it by putting it on. It's a smartish, neutral winter coat. It'll be fine with just about anything.

mdinbc · 11/12/2024 21:45

It would look nice over a column of dark navy, grey or black. So single colour first layer, say for instance, dark rinse jeans and navy long sleeve t, jacket, then cross body navy or black bag and boots. Hat to match jacket if you can find something close in colour.

Zara has sort of done the same to style this similar jacket.

I love it. I have a few faux fur coats and wear them dressed up or down. So if your going on a night out a dress, boots/ shoes, or trousers/jeans and a top/ jumper. Trainers, heels, boots. Really anything! Look on Pinterest or Instagram for ideas.

Notmefornow1 · 11/12/2024 22:01

Absolutely love it. I have a similar one. I find it more flattering than the more common cropped fur coats. I wear mine with baggy jeans or flared black leggings. It's warm and easy to wear with simple casual bases.

jennywrites · 11/12/2024 22:12

🙌 not so out of touch as I thought hooray! Thanks so much for all the ideas. Can't wait to try now!

I have had that exact Zara coat for nearly 2 years and I have yet to wear it! Thank you for this thread 🙏😊

Believe me yes you do! As a short fat person I looked ok in it but my friend looks 100 times better. It's nothing to do with getting the size right it's having a long enough body and legs to offset the bulk of the coat. It's also not a teddy bear coat - it's faux fur which is different.

StrongandNorthern · 12/12/2024 08:57

Love, love love it. Want one!

Puppylucky · 12/12/2024 09:17

Apologies @IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle by the way - I don't mean to come across as snotty but I consider myself something of an expert on faux fur coats as I buy one every winter - hence having bought the Zara one twice - so I flatter myself I do know about proportions and how to avoid looking cylindrical which can easily happen to me at least!

rewilded · 12/12/2024 09:19

I agree it would look awful on me. I am short of leg with a long torso and broad shoulders. Grin

Actual snort, thanks Thevelvelletes.
Great coat op. Neutral colour will go with anything.

KittenPause · 12/12/2024 09:21

Yes it's lovely

IBlameTheDog · 12/12/2024 09:23

I love it. But even as a 10/12, I think it would make me feel a bit chunky.

Chocolately · 12/12/2024 09:26

My mum wore one exactly like it in the '70's, and for that reason I'm out. 😉

VictoriaEra · 12/12/2024 09:49

Yes. Very much

bunnybunnybunnybunny · 12/12/2024 10:44

I love this and have something v. similar. Am not tall - 5ft 4 - and wear it with pretty much everything and everything! Probably the most usual outfit is some kind of jeans, sweater/top, and Converse. As it is bulky, if I am using a crossbody bag, I wear it under the coat, otherwise, I use a handheld tote.
