Hi mumsnetters. Thanks in advance for looking at this.
Need to accept the purchase or raise an issue with Vinted by tomorrow morning.
I’ve been having far too much fun on Vinted recently (just cheap swimsuits etc - need to step away from it!) then said I’d find a secondhand Longchamp Le Pliage for family member to give to DD as I’d seen a few. It’s an unusually special gift for her.
It took a week or two of looking at options which were Very good / good condition, had a seller with good reviews, top wardrobe status etc and looked authentic ie bag photographed on someone’s sofa (no red flags like no reviews, free postage, warehouse type background, packaged bag).
Fair price for a decent secondhand one on Vinted seemed to be from £60ish (which we paid + postage) for the bag which would be £120 in stores.
This bag said original packaging was included but no photos of the packaging. Just close ups of the bag which looked fine.
So bag duly arrived and it was packaged up as if new, rather than Very good as it was categorised in the listing. I don’t know if the packaging is authentic Longchamp and am concerned that it may be a fake - I only know LC’s green bag used for store purchases and not if they’d package an online purchase like this (which someone is then reselling). BUT I don’t have specific reason to raise an issue as I can’t identify any definitely dodgy feature as I’m not knowledgeable enough.
I would rather not start the whole bag buying thing again but…
I’ve searched online for what to look out for e.g. dodgy stitching, different buttons, zip fastening, etc which don’t look like Longchamp originals but can’t see any clear issue other than the underside of the leather flap looks pretty smooth. You can just about see some marking under the flap from the horse overleaf as expected.
A friend has a couple of older fakes which I compared it with but hers were noticeably so – not fastening up straight etc. I appreciate the duping business has moved on a lot, though!
Really would rather just hope we haven’t been duped but I would hate to waste family member’s money so just thought I would throw it out to you, wonderful crowd!
Feel a bit gutted as lovely gesture may have gone wrong but will see.
TIA
