What is the ultimate mascara? Humour me and tell me which one you would choose of the millions out there.

Lancôme hypnose (the original version for me). Nothing comes close. Also, I ALWAYS use eyelash curlers before applying mascara and it makes a huge difference. Do others do this? it makes my lashes look 100 times better!

Shoemadlady · 10/12/2024 22:30

I love the Bobbi brown Smokey mascara

fivebyfivebuffy · 10/12/2024 22:31

Oh I forgot my absolute fave - tarte lights camera lashes

Lancôme doll eyes. The BEST. Hands down.
(in brown)

Maybelline sky high
or if you want fancy but does the same job the Hourglass tubing mascara is very similar - it’s more pricey but removes more easily

Edited

I really like Sky High, but really struggle to get it off with either warm water or make-up remover. I often feel like I'm just layering more on the next day. How does anyone get it off, please?

MsAnnFrope · 10/12/2024 22:34

3 which have already been mentioned are superb; Lancôme hypnose waterproof, benefit they’re real and tarte light camera splashes

Push Up Lashes from Charlotte Tilbury - best ever.

Another vote for this!

rainbowsparkle28 · 10/12/2024 22:38

This one by Estee Lauder - I have tried a fair few before and although this one is more expensive it doesn't cause itchy or sore eyes even by the end of the day, lasts really well, isn't clumpy and doesn't give spider web eyes / clown eyes some of the ones like Maybelline can, it defines really well but a much more natural look whilst still doing a good job. Also whilst it stays it removes well when cleaning.

I hate the fat brushes a lot of mascaras have. For that reason I love Estee Lauder double wear mascara and Clinique Lash Power. The Clinique one especially because it layers beautifully without clumping. It also is very easy to remove.

PrinnyPree · 10/12/2024 22:58

Clinique Zero Gravity, which is surprising since I find their high impact one rubbish.

I have very long but thin lashes and alot of mascaras smudge quite badly under my eyes. Zero gravity doesn't smudge and also gives my lashes a lift.

Yes I curl my eyelashes every day too. Xx

Run a wash cloth under the hot tap wring it out and wip, it takes two wipes to remove. I use baby flannels made of fleece . I use the brown version, the burgandy one was horrible and stuck like glue.

FluffBut · 10/12/2024 23:07

Lancôme's Hypnôse Mascara for me too.

Verite1 · 11/12/2024 00:02

Lancôme Hypnose in brown for day and By Terry Twist in black for the evening.

Yes same here. My lashes are very straight otherwise.

StormingNorman · 11/12/2024 00:22

I have really thick lashes so everything clumps except for Max Factor Masterpiece which is beautiful. I find it better than Lancôme or Dior and have been re-buying it for probably around 5 years now. It’s lengthening but not overly dramatic.

rosyvalentine · 11/12/2024 00:41

Hourglass Unlocked Instant Extensions mascara and also Clarins Supra Lift & Curl and/or Clarins Wonder Perfect mascara. I love all three of these, but I'm going to try the Lancôme Hypnose one now after reading this thread!

If one is a tubing mascara and the other isn't then they aren't anything alike

They’re both tubing mascaras

3luckystars · 11/12/2024 07:38

I forgot to say that I’m allergic to most mascaras and get a reaction to black, so have tried a lot of them but the Lancôme Doll eyes and Hypnose (in brown) have never caused any issues and are by far the nicest on me.

I use Chanel and it’s decent but might try the Lancôme one after reading this thread!

Same...Chanel mascara is amazing but I'm tempted to try the Lancôme after reading this thread 😊

Back21970 · 11/12/2024 09:24

I generally use lancome along with their primer and it’s the best I’ve tried.

Been experimenting this year with tubing ones for daytime as a quick makeup look but yet to find anything that good - may try the Beauty Pie one mentioned with the eyeliner.

Tempted by the Sisley that’s also been mentioned - these threads can be expensive 🤣

Gucci L’obscur. Stupid price. Amazing mascara.

Oh, is it good?

I used to use a Tom Ford mascara which was epic, but began to feel the cost was unreasonable. Since then nothing has lived up to it. This year my eyelashes have become extremely sparse through illness, and I’ve hardly bothered, but miss the drama mascara adds to a face. I love Gucci lipsticks so may give theirs a try.

(Sampled the new Charlotte Tilbury recently - made me look like a mad axe murderer in a horror film …)

Webbb · 11/12/2024 09:50

I used Benefit Roller Lash for years and I do love it, but someone bought me Maybelline Sky High and I've now switched. It's very very good. Doesn't move all day and builds nicely.

I remove it with micellar water and a cotton pad!
