Searching for a cable knit jumper

I've never owned an expensive jumper but I think I might get one for Xmas! Maybe around £100.

I am after:
Some cable knit
Possibly some bobbles
A nice fibre, not all 100% acrylic type
Dark colour - I like dark green, olive green, dark berry colour, navy. I am pasty and do not suit beige, mustard etc.
Not a tight fit.
Normal round neck, not turtleneck etc.
Not short, needs to at least cover jeans waistband. I'm an apple shape.

I really love this mint velvet one but it is too short and the colour too light. I am fussy.

Anyone seen anything that fits the bill? Thank you

I love this one but they only have the size I think I'd want (Large) in the black. The ponderosa colour is gorgeous. I do like the black so it's also maybe. Thank you

I bought these two and need to decide which colour to keep! Swaying towards the olive at the moment. I love the knit pattern. Thank you for your help everyone.

@MrsLeonFarrell it was you who suggested seasalt, so thank you!

The olive is a lovely colour. It wouldn’t suit me but if it’s right for your colouring then keep that one!

LunaTheCat · 21/12/2024 02:34

Oh definitately the olive.. it’s beautiful!

BlanklyMyDear · 21/12/2024 07:03

Did you pay full price or get it in the sale, @seven201? Either way I’m slightly horrified that Seasalt sells what looks like a real jumper but is 50% nylon. Why do they? And made in China, too - when the UK is famously brilliant at knitwear.

Anyway, if it’s what you want, keep the colour that works best with all your winter clothes.

seven201 · 23/12/2024 22:46

@BlanklyMyDear I got it in the sale. I've worn it a lot over the past few days and it's not felt particularly synthetic. I think blended fibres can be pretty practical, although would have preferred a little less nylon ideally. Will see how it fairs after washing. I'm happy I kept the green one. Shame it wasn't made in the UK, although the price would have been higher for sure!

I'm a little late to this thread, but glad you found something you like! Mixed fibres are not all bad, since wool can be itchy and too warm sometimes. I have an Irish knit cardigan, but find it heavy. If I do wear it, it's more like a jacket than cardigan, but it is beautiful in a traditional way.
