North Face popularity with kids??

I've bought my DH (mid 40's) a North Face zip up top for Christmas. It's in his favourite colour and I know he'll like it, it's practical and stylish and warm.

But I keep hearing about teens suddenly going mad for North Face. Is it now a young ultra-trendy brand? Will he look daft wearing it in his mid 40's and like he's trying to be down with the kids?

I'm so confused because to me The North Face just seems like an outdoor brand similar to Black/ Millets etc - why are all the kids going mad for it??

I don't know - but DS (19) has been into North Face for about 3 years now, as are his mates. It's not 'suddenly' become trendy I don't think. That and NIKE have been the go to brands since he hit his teens.

I don't know if it means your DH will look sad, I'm afraid!

The black north face puffer jacket is a staple amongst teens across social classes.

North face is also really well made ‘adult, clothing. I think both are fine.

Ds15 and his mates don't wear NF.
I offered to get a top once for him and he said it was a bit chavvy. They aren't really into brands at all though

I'm 50 and I've done Via Ferrata in North Face clothing. And ski-ing.
My stuff is vintage. Still going strong.

Suddenly? No I bought my son (then 18) a jacket in the States (so much cheaper but still expensive) about three years ago which he'd been asking for ages - most disappointed that he lent it to his girlfriend then they broke up and she kept it...

North Face seems to have come and gone here. DS didn't want another NF when he grew out of his over the summer.

We have a running joke at our school that we should partner with North Face to make the black puffa jacket a part of our uniform. It is a staple item, never named obviously.

It depends where you are...I wore north face 20 years ago when it was actually functional for ski wear. My kids would not be seen dead in it. No one wears it here apart from wannabe road men. Joys of se London.

My 17yr old similarly didn't want a replacement when it needed replacing.

We've gone for carhartt and a few other random brands

I think the North Face Ninja trend has passed

FreeMilkshakesForYou · 07/12/2024 15:44

North Face is popular with hikers and teenagers.

It's fine fir any age really

North Face got street cred all the way back in the 90’s during the New York hip hop scene. Always been a popular street brand.
